Tablets samsung galaxy tab 3 8. The screen of a mobile device is characterized by its technology, resolution, pixel density, diagonal length, color depth, etc.

The first representative of eight-inch tablets from Samsung can be conditionally called Galaxy Tab 7.7. The model turned out to be extremely successful, only the built-in software let us down. I think that the success of the Tab 7.7 has shown the company that users are ready to buy eight-inch devices and the small difference in dimensions does not scare them at all. The second device in the eight-inch format was the Galaxy Note 8.0, which, due to its price, turned out to be a niche offer, interesting for users who want to have a compact tablet with a stylus.

The Tab 3 8.0 reviewed today is aimed at the mass market, as evidenced by its positioning and price.

Equipment

  • Tablet
  • Charger
  • PC cable
  • Wired earplugs

Once again, I will praise Samsung for the high-quality (for complete) headphones that were put in the box with the device. They are perfect for the casual user.

Appearance, materials, controls, assembly

Not much can be said about the design of the Tab 3 8.0, this is a typical Samsung device, made with an eye on the Galaxy S4. An interesting solution was the narrow bezels around the display.

Most of the front side of the tablet is occupied by an eight-inch screen, above it are the earpiece, light and proximity sensors, and below it are the Menu and Back touch buttons, as well as the physical Home button. The latter also allows you to turn on the tablet screen.

On the left side you can see the power button, volume rocker and an infrared port.

On the right side are the card slots. microSD memory HC and SIM-cards of microSIM format (in versions with 3G-module).

A place for a 3.5 mm jack was taken away at the top end, and for a microUSB connector - at the bottom. Also hidden below are two stereo speakers and a microphone hole.

The back of the device is made of white glossy plastic. Of the elements on it, there is only a 5 MP main camera.

In my sample, the bottom right edge of the screen sagged slightly when pressed. I do not think that this is a massive problem, but just in case, check this point when buying.

Dimensions

In my opinion, the ideal dimensions of 8-inch tablets should be slightly larger than their 7-inch counterparts, so that the user can take full advantage of the increased diagonal without the disadvantage of more weight or width. And the Tab 3 8.0 fits that criteria perfectly. If you take a look at the list below, you will notice that this tablet is only slightly wider than its seven-inch counterparts. And if we talk about weight and thickness, then here Tab 3 8.0 is almost the absolute leader, second only to the iPad Mini.

Compared to Asus MemoPad HD 7

  • samsung galaxy Tab 3 8.0- 209.8x123.8x7.4 mm, weight - 314 grams
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0- 211x136x8 mm, weight - 338 grams
  • Acer A1- 209x146x11 mm, weight - 410 grams
  • Explay sQuad 7.81- 200x139x8 mm, weight - 345 grams
  • Google Nexus 7- 199x120x11 mm, weight - 340 grams
  • Asus Fonepad- 196x120x10 mm, weight - 340 grams
  • Apple iPad Mini- 200x135x7 mm, weight - 312 grams

The tablet is comfortable to hold for a long time with one or two hands - the device is very thin and light.

Screen

The tablet has an eight-inch display with a resolution of 1280x800 pixels, the matrix type is TFT-PLS, the screen is covered protective glass(I suspect that this is Gorilla Glass, but there is no official information on this), an oleophobic coating is present.

The screen has good viewing angles, at the maximum deviation the image fades, but there is no color inversion. The picture itself is bright, clear, while the colors are soft and natural. From this display it is convenient to read books and watch videos.

Separately, I would note the screen size: firstly, despite the difference of only an inch, an eight-inch tablet is much more convenient to use than a seven-inch one. And secondly, Samsung uses separate buttons below the screen, which gives extra space, which is usually occupied by on-screen keys. As a result, the screen on the Tab 3 8.0 feels much larger than its 7-inch competitors.

Operating system

The tablet has Android 4.2.2 with a proprietary shell TouchWiz. According to first impressions, the shell almost completely repeats that of the Galaxy Note 8.0. You can read more about it at the link below:

Performance

The device has a dual-core processor Exynos 4412, operating at a frequency of 1.5 GHz, video accelerator - Mali 400MP. Volume random access memory- 1.5 GB, internal storage capacity - 16 GB (about 11 GB is available to the user), there is support for microSDHC memory cards up to 64 GB inclusive.

The results of the tablet in benchmarks are very mediocre, but in practice there are no complaints about its work: browser, launcher, mail, heavy games - all these operations are performed quickly and without slowdowns. Which once again shows that a quad-core processor is not needed for good performance.

Offline work

The tablet has a non-removable battery with a capacity of 4450 mAh.

Starting with this review, reading time will be tested at 30% brightness.

In reading mode (brightness 30%, "airplane mode" is on), the tablet was discharged in 13 hours.

In video mode, the charge of the device was enough for 6 hours (maximum brightness, "airplane mode" is on).

If we talk about everyday use (40-50% brightness, the total screen activity is about an hour a day), then the tablet can last 5-6 days perfectly.

These are excellent indicators for a portable device. You will most likely charge your tablet no more than twice a week.

Wireless interfaces

WiFi (b/g/n)- the module supports operation at frequencies of 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. In addition to simply connecting to a network, Wi-Fi Direct and Wi-Fi Router functions are available (3G tablet version only).

Mobile network- 3G version of the tablet works in cellular networks 2G (GSM/GPRS/EDGE, 850/900/1800/1900 MHz) and 3G (900/2100 MHz).

Bluetooth 4.0- All popular profiles are supported, including A2DP.

GPS and GLONASS- cold start takes 20-25 seconds.

IR port- used to control your TV from your tablet.

Camera

The tablet has two cameras: the main 5 MP with autofocus and the front 1.3 MP. Pictures from the main camera are very mediocre, the same goes for video. This camera is only suitable for shooting macro or text, in other situations, I would recommend using something else for shooting.

The front camera is great for Skype video calls, the image quality is on par with other Android tablets.

Conclusion

  • Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 16GB Wi-Fi - 12,000 rubles
  • Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 16GB Wi-Fi + 3G - 16,000 rubles

For this money you get a thin and light tablet with a quality screen, good time battery life and a lot of software "chips" from the manufacturer (the possibility of voice calls, the TV control function using the infrared port, its own keyboard and browser, etc.). The indisputable advantage of the Tab 3 8.0 over all the "sevens" on Android is the large screen size and more usable space (thanks to the touch buttons under the screen). At the same time, the dimensions of the tablet are at the level of most seven-inch tablets.

I can safely recommend Tab 3 8.0 as a universal compact Android tablet: it is convenient to watch videos from it, it is comfortable to read books and articles from the Internet on it, the processor power is perfectly enough for modern games.

Yes, the Tab 3 8.0 is more expensive than most compact tablets, but it has more than enough advantages.

The only competitor of this tablet is the iPad Mini, which has the same screen size, size and price. On the Mini's side are better materials and a larger range of games. Tab 3 8.0 wins with support for memory cards and more convenient video viewing (codecs, screen aspect ratio). Choosing between the Tab 3 8.0 and iPad Mini is more about ecosystems than specs, and it's up to you to decide which is closer to you, iOS or Android.

I've only been using it for 5 days. Some delight, honestly. After the a10 pocketbook, which turned out to be weak and bulky, the samych seems miniature and powerful. The video player on the factory firmware plays everything (3D and FullHD did not try, this is not its format)

This Samsung is good as always, but it's not for communication and for photos, but it has what it needs. Then I shoot and I can take good pictures with this device if I climb in the camera settings. So a tablet for games, Internet via Wi fi and there is a remote control, which is very useful.

Excellent assembly, stable work, in general, made very high quality. High-quality widescreen HD-resolution. For such a screen size, the tablet has a small weight and dimensions. There is support for Apt-X, which means high-quality sound via Bluetooth.

Considering the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8 inch with 3g 16GB, you understand that this tablet is already obsolete, but this does not mean that it has an unpleasant appearance or its processor will work slower. Regarding the system, we have an 8-inch screen, 1.5 GB of RAM and a dual-core processor with 1500 MHz, in principle, to surf the Internet, watch movies, this is enough, however, this iron will not be enough for modern games. As for the screen itself, we can say that the matrix reproduces the color gamut well, and the margin for brightness is quite consistent with the pricing policy of the tablet, which is quite democratic to a certain extent. It is worth adding that the build quality and assembly materials are at the level and correspond to a well-known brand. Also, there is a large amount of, in fact, the right software.

In general, even now the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8 inch with 3g 16gb looks quite modern.

    Conclusion

Samsung GALAXY Tab 3 8.0 SM-T3110 16GB is a multifunctional tablet that will be popular with a large number of users, regardless of their preference. Also, as we said above, the device is not suitable for games (although for not very demanding ones, of course, yes), but for office applications, watching videos, reading books, this model is one of the most ideal, including price category. In general, we recommend the device for a more detailed and intimate acquaintance.

So let's take a look at the design of the Galaxy Tab 3 first. Samsung has drastically reduced the bezel around the device's display. Thanks to this, nothing prevents you from looking at the display. And as soon as it gets into your hands, you will immediately see the difference between a 7-inch and an 8-inch screen. At first it seemed to us that the difference is quite small (still it is only 1 inch). However, having carefully felt the tablet, we realized that this was not so. We think that the 8-inch display goes well with the ideal thin bezels compared to what was previously on the Tab 2 tablets. accidental touches on the screen. We expect many manufacturers in the future to improve their devices in the same way in terms of bezels around the screen, because this is a great trend, we think.

And now let's take a look at the front of the Galaxy Tab 3. First, of course, the 8-inch display immediately catches the eye. Secondly, as with all devices in the Galaxy line, this tablet has a physical Home button and a few more touch buttons. Also on the front of the tablet is an additional 1.3-megapixel camera and a proximity sensor. On the left side of the Galaxy Tab 3, you can only find a microSD card slot. Right: Screen lock button, volume keys and infrared port. Top: 3.5mm audio jack. At the bottom we see a microUSB (MHL) port, 2 speakers and a microphone. Well, on the back of the tablet is, of course, a 5-megapixel camera.

Let's move on to the interface overview.

Tablet Galaxy Tab 3 is working on the basis of the operating system Android 4.2.2. As usual, it was not without the addition of Samsung's TouchWiz Nature UX interface on top of the OS itself. TouchWiz Nature UX is already familiar to many from devices such as the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S4 smartphones. This interface is quite easy to work with, and it is also convenient, because. all options can be quickly found, thanks to excellent "sorting". And at the end of 2013, we can expect that the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 will receive an update to android versions 4.3. This was announced by the company at the end of July this year.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 also received an excellent set of so-called "smart" features. For example, the user will be able to open several windows at once, as on a PC, there are also Smart Stay and Smart Rotate functions. Well, at the head, of course, is the option of voice control of the device. These are the most basic unusual features that this tablet has received. Of course, Samsung could add a few more smart features, but that would increase the price of the tablet. In the future, along with updates for the Galaxy Tab 3, new options are still expected to be added.

Even though the 8-inch Galaxy Tab 3 is not sold with all the smart features available, Samsung has provided something specifically for users who like to play games, listen to music, watch movies, i.e. enjoy all the multimedia features of the tablet. First, the device supports various audio and video formats. However, the Galaxy Tab 3 lacks an FM radio. The company decided to remove radio support during production. Galaxy smartphone S4, because she believes that many users prefer to listen to music through other streaming services, and the radio only takes extra production time and resources. As for memory, the internal memory is limited to 16 GB. 11 GB of memory is available to store any information and data, and 5 GB is used by the operating system itself and applications. It's good that the Galaxy Tab 3 is in case of a shortage internal memory, you can always use external storage media, in the form of microSD memory cards - their maximum volume should not exceed 64 GB.

Since the device has received 1.5 GB of RAM, this allows the tablet to work quite quickly. For example, during operation, Galaxy Tab 3 uses only 675 MB of RAM for itself, the user spends the rest of the RAM on applications, games, programs, etc.

Now I would like to take a closer look at the display of the Galaxy Tab 3 tablet. It is classified as a middle-class device, which means that the price of such gadgets is acceptable for users even with an average or low income. However, the quality of the tablet does not suffer. One of the means of saving in production was to work on reducing the viewing angles of the tablet screen and lowering the resolution (that is, they simply saved on it). In general, the display is quite high-quality - 8-inch with a liquid crystal screen, while the pixel density is 189 ppi, and the resolution is only 1280 x 800 pixels. For the average user, the difference will not be very noticeable, well, more “knowledgeable” buyers are unlikely to like such a low resolution for an 8-inch display.

On the other hand, all colors are transmitted realistically and colorfully. And all thanks to the liquid crystal display. In general, for its price, the screen is pretty good.

As we said earlier, the Galaxy Tab 3 has two cameras: a front camera and a rear camera. The resolution is 1.3 megapixels and 5 megapixels, respectively. With a 5MP camera, the tablet is capable of recording HD video at 720p resolution. The maximum photo resolution is 2560 x 1920 pixels. Below we have presented you the photos that were taken by the main camera of the 8-inch Galaxy Tab 3 tablet:

As for the most important thing - the heart of the tablet, then inside it is a dual-core processor from Samsung - Exynos with a clock speed of 1.5 GHz. While we worked with this tablet, it worked quite quickly, only some slowdowns were sometimes noticeable. Of the entire line of Galaxy Tab tablets, the Tab 3 8.0 is the fastest.

While testing the tablet, we noticed that the battery life of the device is really decent. With active work with it, the Galaxy Tab 3 was able to last a whole day without recharging. Well, an ordinary user will be able to work with it for about 3 days and forget what Charger. All this is provided by a battery with a capacity of 4,450 mAh.

In conclusion, I would like to say that this is an excellent tablet computer with a good affordable price. That said, it's pretty fast, with a quality LCD display, and 8 inches is the ideal size for a tablet, in our opinion. We discussed all these nuances the other day. It is not for nothing that it is called one of the most anticipated tablets of this year and huge popularity is predicted for it. Most likely, in September, the first users will be able to purchase an 8-inch Wi-Fi version of the Galaxy Tab 3 tablet computer.
