Why does not wi-fi connect to ipad. Set up a Wi-Fi connection for Apple devices

This article will be useful for all owners of tablets from Apple - iPad and iPad mini. I would even say for novice users, for those who first met the iPad tablet. After buying an iPad, joy and other emotions, you need to set up our tablet and be sure to connect it to the Internet. If you didn't connect iPad to Wi-Fi during the first setup, then you can connect it to the Internet later, and it's not difficult at all. But, if you have not encountered Apple technology before, then you may have questions about this.

I think it's no secret to anyone that without an Internet connection, a tablet is generally useless. iPad is no exception. And in order to use your tablet to its fullest, you need to connect it to normal internet... Either Wi-Fi or 3G / 4G can be used (if you have a version with 3G or 4G support)... But, everything is fine, you will be connecting your iPad to Wi-Fi. Since it is either free or not expensive in comparison with the same 3G. Now let's take a closer look at the process of connecting the iPad mini to Wi-Fi networks.

Connecting iPad to Wi-Fi

Open the settings on your tablet.

Moving on to masonry Wi-Fi and click on the Wi-Fi network to which we want to connect.

If the network is protected, a window will appear in which you need to specify the password for connecting to Wi-Fi and click the button Conn.

If you entered the password correctly, then your iPad should connect to the wireless network. You can use the Internet, install games and applications from the App Store, etc.

Delete network on iPad and set static IP and DNS

If you need to delete a network, make sure that the tablet does not automatically connect to it, then just click on the network to which you are already connected.

Click on the button Forget this web.

And to change the IP address, DNS, and Subnet mask, go to the tab Static in the properties of the desired Wi-Fi network. And set the options you want.

These are the simple Wi-Fi settings. Basically, like the entire iOS operating system. If your iPad doesn't want to connect to Wi-Fi, then the problem is most likely in the settings of the wireless network itself on the router. Check if other devices are connected. And if the tablet connects to the network, but the Internet does not work, then check the provider's settings on the router, and again, whether the Internet works on other devices.

Try deleting the network on your tablet and it will reconnect. Make sure you enter the correct password.

As part of this article, I want to consider solutions to various problems that you may encounter while connecting your iPhone or iPad to a Wi-Fi network. I often come across questions in the comments: "what to do if the iPhone does not connect to Wi-Fi", "why the iPad does not connect to the home network", or "why the Internet does not work after connecting to the Wi-Fi network". Today I will try to answer these and other questions in detail.

I have been using an iPhone for a little over a year, I have had an iPad for over 3 years, and I have never had any problems connecting to wireless networks. True, I don't often connect to new networks. Basically, my devices are always connected to my home Wi-Fi network, or I use mobile internet... It happened that the Internet simply did not work, but it was on all devices, and the problem was in the router or provider.

Cities are now just full of Wi-Fi networks. In shops, cafes, clubs, hotels, subways, or simply open wireless networks on city streets. And more often than not, the iPhone does not connect to these particular networks. Although, there are often problems with connecting to home routers. I also often noticed messages that the iPhone does not want to connect to wireless networks in the subway. Gives a message saying "Insecure connection". We will also try to figure it out with this.

I think this manual will work for all phone models. (iPhone 7, iPhone 6, 5, 5S, etc.) and tablets from Apple. There is also no big difference what kind of router you have: Mikrotik, TP-Link, D-Link, ASUS, etc. True, according to my observations, mobile devices from Apple are not very friendly with Mikrotik routers. If you have problems connecting to someone else's network, you will not be able to change the router settings. And this may be necessary.

We'll look at solutions to the following problems and errors:

First of all:

  1. Reboot your iOS device. Pressing and holding the Home key and the Power button at the same time. Also reboot the router (unplug and power on) if you have access to a router. Try to connect according to the instructions:. It's the same on the iPhone. If this method did not help, then we will look for a solution further.
  2. Find out what the problem is. To do this, try connecting another device to your (or someone else's) network. Several are possible. See if the internet works on them. If other devices also have problems with connection or Internet access, then the problem is on the side of the router or Internet provider. I will describe some of the router settings below in the article. Also try connecting your iPhone to a different network. If it does not connect to any Wi-Fi network, then reset the network settings (more on this below in the article).

Trying to "forget the network" on the iPhone / iPad and reconnect to Wi-Fi

The "Forget this network" function often helps to get rid of various connection problems. Especially, this method is relevant in the case when the device does not connect after changing the router settings. For example, after changing the Wi-Fi network password. And the error "Failed to connect to the network" appears, or there is a permanent connection.

Just go to Wi-Fi settings and click on the problem network. Then click on "Forget this network" and confirm the action by clicking on the "Forget" button.

After that, try to connect again using the password.

Doing a full reset of network settings on an iOS device

Another solution that completely removes all network settings on the iPhone and allows you to get rid of many problems related to the Internet connection and restore Wi-Fi work.

In the settings, open the "General" - "Reset" section and click on "Reset network settings". Then we confirm the reset.

After that, you can try to connect your iPad, iPhone to the Wi-Fi network. If the problem persists, and he does not want to connect, then most likely the matter is in the router settings (which I hope you have already reloaded).

What can you try to change in the router settings?

In the settings of your router, you can try to change the following parameters: region, operating mode, channel, channel width, encryption type.

If you are sure that you are entering everything correctly, but the iPhone still says that the password is incorrect, then you can try to set a different password in the router settings. Put some simple 8-digit number. Security settings: WPA2 (AES).

Warning: "Insecure network"

This is just a warning that you can see on your iPhone when connected to an unsecured Wi-Fi network. By clicking on the network itself, security recommendations appear. This feature appeared in iOS 10.

If this is your home network, then of course set a password for it. If the network is not yours, then you can just use the connection. But remember, this is not entirely safe.

"No internet connection" on iPhone and iPad

In the case when the mobile device successfully connected to the network, but the sites in the browser do not open and programs cannot access the Internet, the reason is most likely on the side of the access point. Also, next to the name of the network there may be an inscription "No Internet connection".

Check if the Internet is working on another device that is connected through the same router. If not, see the article:. If everything is fine on other devices, the problem with Wi-Fi is only on the iPhone, then first restart it. If this does not help, then do a network settings reset (wrote about this above).

Update: can be tried in iOS settings.

Delete VPN configuration on iPhone

Update: if you had a VPN configured on your phone or tablet (possibly via the app), then the VPN profile created in the settings can cause many different problems with the Internet connection. The Wi-Fi icon may not appear after connecting. The Internet can only work over a cellular network, but not over Wi-Fi. It happens that there is no Internet access only in some applications. For example, Viber, WhatsApp, FaceTime. And in Safari, the Internet works and sites open.

You need to go to the settings and delete the VPN profile. Go to section The mainVPN... Select a profile (by clicking on (i)) and delete it.

Delete all profiles that are there.

Solutions to other Wi-Fi problems

Let's take a quick look at two more cases:

  1. Wi-Fi does not turn on. Inactive switch. The Apple website advises you to reset your network settings. How to do this, I wrote in detail above in the article. If the reset did not help, then you can try to do full reset device settings. But most likely you will have to contact service center... Since this indicates a breakdown of the Wi-Fi module itself in the phone or tablet.
  2. Why doesn't iPhone connect to Wi-Fi automatically? Most likely, this is some kind of glitch. Because the phone always tries to automatically connect to a known wireless network that it has already connected to. I can only advise you to forget the necessary network in the setup (for more details on how to do this, I wrote above) and reconnect to the network.

I also wanted to say a few words about public and other people's Wi-Fi networks. When we cannot connect our iPhone or iPad to such a Wi-Fi network, then we need to understand that some kind of blocking may be configured there. (e.g. MAC binding), or your device was simply blocked there. Since we do not have access to the access point settings, all we can do is reset the network settings on your device.

I tried to consider all the most popular and frequent cases encountered by owners mobile devices from Apple. If you have any other problem, or you know other, working solutions, then write about it in the comments. Best wishes!

Articles and Life Hacks

Problems with Apple gadgets are not uncommon, even despite the reliability of the iOS system. In particular, many of their owners are faced with the fact that IPad won't connect to wifi, or does not see the network at all. It also happens that problems are observed, for example, only with a home wireless network, despite the fact that the router is working properly. Most often, such cases are observed if the tablet was brought from abroad.

What if the iPad can't connect to wifi?

First, you need to make sure that the tablet is indeed within range of a wireless network with a good signal. After that, you need to check if Wi-Fi is turned on at all. If the network is secure, you will need an access password. Sometimes deleting the password and re-entering it helps.

If you still fail to connect to the network, it is recommended to check all the cables on the router, and if necessary, also reboot the router, unplug it and then plug it back in. It's also worth trying to restart the iPad itself.

In the event that none of the above has helped, you can resort to more radical measures. So, it is worth trying to reset the network settings (through the basic settings of the tablet). This will reset all passwords, VPN settings, and so on. Of course, after that you will need to re-enter them. If the iPad doesn't connect to wifi, this might help. By the way, even before resetting the network settings, you should definitely try to connect to the wireless network in another place - for example, in a cafe, and also connect to the same Wi-Fi, but from a different gadget.

Tips for those whose iPad can't connect to wifi

If the user cannot connect to any of the wireless networks, he should contact the support or service center for help. For those for whom someone else configures Wi-Fi, it is best to turn to him. If you experience connection problems somewhere in a public place, you should talk to an employee of this organization or institution.

Another handy tip for iPad owners who are sure there is a problem with the router: make sure the tablet is on the list of supported devices. You can also try updating your router's firmware.

After the owner of the tablet is able to manually connect to the wireless network for the first time, the next time the connection should occur automatically. If there are several networks in range, the device will connect to the last used Wi-Fi. If you wish, you can always remove any wireless network from the list and exclude subsequent automatic connections.

Apple iPad tablet computers are in great demand among gadget lovers. They have high performance and allow you to solve a wide variety of tasks, ranging from working with by e-mail and ending with games in various funny and exciting toys. To connect to the Internet, Aipads most often use Wi-Fi networks - the user needs to find the desired network, enter the correct password and wait for authentication. But what if iPad won't connect to Wi-Fi? The problem is not very serious, so almost any user can cope with its solution.

Choosing the right network

Have you come to a mall or a restaurant? Found a note stating that this location has Wi-Fi access? Turn on your iPad, select a suitable network and try to connect to it. The connection situation can be twofold:

  • The selected network will ask for identification - in this case, you need to find the password for this network, otherwise the connection will be impossible;
  • The selected network will pass without a password - excellent, although not very secure (it is not recommended to connect to such networks, as there is a risk of theft of important data or interception of transmitted / received information).

Lack of a password is a big plus for crowded places, as users don't have to search for credentials. If the password is set, then you need to get it. But what if iPad won't connect to Wi-Fi because the network won't accept your chosen password? There are several reasons for this - you have chosen the wrong network (sometimes several routers work in large buildings at once), the admins changed the password, there was an error in the iPad itself. What to do?

Try to clarify the name of the network (for example, from the waiter in the cafe or from the administrator of the institution in which you are located) and clarify the correctness of the password provided. It is possible that the password has changed, but the administration has not yet provided access to the updated data. After specifying the password, try to connect again.

Wi-Fi does not work on the iPad

Sometimes errors occur in the electronic devices themselves, as a result of which they do not want to connect to routers and access points - even if access without a password is provided. If iPad won't connect to Wi-Fi, try restarting your tablet. Restart operating system will allow you to get rid of existing errors and glitches. IOS will be back on track and you can safely connect to your home or public network.

If a problem with connecting to a Wi-Fi network arose after certain actions, try uninstalling the software installed during this period or returning the settings - as practice shows, the majority of connection problems are somehow related to incorrect user actions. Therefore, the best option is to "roll back."

Connection issue occured after update software? Try operating system recovery - this will help get rid of many "glitches" with the system. Be sure to back up important data before updating software and restoring. Otherwise, you may lose important files.

Troubleshooting router problems

Is your iPad 2 not connecting to Wi-Fi? Very often, connection problems are tied to problems with the router. If it is configured incorrectly, then hitches with the connection simply cannot be avoided. In order to properly configure your router, contact your provider - call hotline or use the official website. After reconfiguring the router, send it to reboot and try to reconnect.

In the process of setting up the router, set an easy-to-remember name for your Wi-Fi network... The thing is that by leaving the name suggested by the router, you create confusion - in the conditions of a dense location of home wireless networks, you risk getting confused in access points and choosing the wrong router. In this case, you will uselessly "hammer" into someone else's router and spit on the lack of connection. Therefore, the network name must be unique.

When setting up an access point, pay attention to the type of encryption. If you have WPA2 encryption installed, then there should be no connection problems. If they still exist, try specifying a different type of encryption in the settings, restart the router and try again to connect.

If you experience connection problems, you can try to configure a network without encryption to test the connectivity. After testing, return the password protection back.

Lack of confident reception

Another problem that awaits iPad owners may be the uncertain reception of the Wi-Fi network to which the current connection is made. A stable connection occurs only when you are in the range of an access point or router. If the signal is weak, then there may be problems:

  • Constant password requests;
  • Loss of router signal;
  • No connection when there is a connection.

In some cases, the router perfectly sees all calls from the devices around it. But the devices themselves (including iPad tablets) cannot always receive the signal from the router. As a result, one can only dream of establishing a stable connection. In order to create conditions for a normal connection with a router, you need to get closer to it. In this case, you will enter the zone of reliable reception, thanks to which the iPad will be able to normally connect to the router via Wi-Fi. If, after approaching your router, you notice that the connection has stabilized, try changing the router - buy a model with two antennas, it will help increase the range of the network.

Routers with removable antennas will help provide a more extended coverage area.- install a pair of extended length antennas instead of standard short antennas and form a solid reception area. A good expansion of the reception area is provided by powerful remote antennas with a wire, which have good gain and increase the sensitivity of the equipment.

We contact the service center

If you have already tried everything that you could try, but there are no results, contact the service center. It is possible that something happened with your iPad. Suspicions should fall on him even if any other devices except your tablet are connected to your router - take it to a service for testing and repair.

Owners of iРad often face the problem of incorrect connection to the network via the Wi-Fi module. These problems are mainly caused by software glitches and are resolved by updating the software.

  • Restart of all modules involved in synchronization with the network (turn off / turn on the router, turn off / turn on the cable or DSL module from the outlet).
  • Reboot your iOS device (press the power and home buttons at the same time).

If attempts to connect to at least one Wi-Fi network remain in vain, you should contact the manufacturer of the gadget - Apple. Or in a company that provides services for the repair, customization and replacement of glass on the ipad 3.

Let's take a look at the most common reasons why an Apple device doesn't want to connect to Wi-Fi.

iPad does not see Wi-Fi

The lack of synchronization with the network can be caused by several reasons:

  1. Weak signal from router. Solution: make sure the router is turned on, place the Apple gadget within its coverage area.
  2. Wi-Fi is deactivated. Solution: turn on Wi-Fi ("Settings" -> Wi-Fi). If a network is active, a blue checkmark appears when you click on its name.
  3. Failure of network settings. Solution: on the desktop, click the "Settings" icon -> in the left menu "Wi-Fi" -> select the desired network from the list -> "Forget this network" -> restart iPad -> enter the network settings yourself. The same result will give the order of actions Settings -> General -> Reset -> "Reset network settings".

Error "iРad does not connect to Wi-Fi - incorrect password"

A similar message may appear if the user has forgotten the password for connecting to their Wi-Fi network. Sometimes the error occurs when software glitches, the correct password is perceived by the device as invalid data.

Solution: reset the router settings and further deactivate password protection, while the network will not be protected from unauthorized access. A reset button is always present on every router (a small recessed button is located on the back of the device). Pressing and holding the button for 5-10 seconds will reboot the router and activate the factory settings. After that, you can reconfigure the router through the web-based admin interface.

iPad mini 2 and Wi-Fi

The new generation devices operate on iOS 8.1, iOS 7. But even they have problems with the Internet via Wi-Fi connection or there is no connection at all. Solution: set static DNS and IP ("Settings" -> "Wi-Fi" in the left menu -> select the desired network from the list -> section "IP address" -> Static -> manually enter the required parameters). If the connection is restored, but some sites do not open, and the programs do not work, you should set a static DNS (the algorithm is the same).

If you have problems with the Internet via Wi-Fi connection, you need to set static DNS and IP

Most often, the reasons for the incorrect relationship between iРad and Wi-Fi are hidden in the unfinished software and imperfection of the mobile operating system. This applies most of all to iOS 7. According to many experts, the main reason why the iРad does not always see Wi-Fi is the operation of the energy-saving Broadcom BCM4330 chip. It blocks the operation of modules that actively lower the iРad battery level. Solution: Immediate device software update, efficient battery management for Broadcom BCM4330.

iPad won't connect to Wi-Fi after update

After changing the firmware, the device may not see the home network, but the Wi-Fi button will be active. This mainly applies to gadgets associated with rare obsolete D-Link routers 624.

Solution: downgrade the firmware of the modem version, make sure that a specific iРad is included in the list of supported products, change the connection channel (set Auto select, leave WPS enabled). You can also change the region in the wireless settings. In 90% of cases, flashing an Apple device helps.

If the iPad does not connect to Wi-Fi after the update, you can try changing the region in the wireless settings

iRad of any generation will not be able to connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi if the network hardware is damaged. Solution: Check and replace damaged connections, adapters and cables.

The software reasons for the incorrect Wi-Fi connection can be eliminated on your own, but it is better to entrust the solution of technical malfunctions of the gadget to specialists.
