Smartphones based on the Android operating system are becoming increasingly popular around the world. For most people, a smartphone has become more than just a means of making calls; for many, a mobile phone is a connection with the outside world.

A smartphone created on the Android system has a lot of capabilities. Such devices have a high screen resolution, a front and main camera, and in some models a double camera, enlarged internal memory, two stereo speakers and this is just a small list of the advantages of smartphones.

Today you can hardly meet a person who does not listen to music or radio on the go. Of course, this is all connected with our frantic pace of life and almost every person needs to be on time everywhere. Sometimes smartphone owners encounter the problem of very low volume on Android. Let's try to figure out this problem.

The modern smartphone system allows several applications to work simultaneously without requiring them to be closed, and sometimes this has an incorrect effect on the operation of the speaker, so you should not use all methods at the same time.

Ways to increase volume on Android

To get started, use the standard settings menu, go to the “ringtones and volume” section, select the volume section and set the appropriate parameters. If you want to adjust the volume on Android for calls or multimedia applications, you need to use the “sound profiles” menu. By clicking on the corresponding button, you will open a submenu and be able to set the parameters that suit you.

Add sound to Android through the engineering menu

An equally effective way is to set the volume on Android through the engineering menu. The entrance to the engineering menu is different for each model, here are the most common combinations *#15963#* and *#*#4636#*#* you just need to enter from a regular dialer.

Usually you can find it out from the smartphone supplier or in the menu section located on the smartphone itself. You can also easily get to the engineering menu of any device on the Android system by downloading the application from Play Market called Mobileuncle MTK Tools, it is simple and intuitive, even a schoolchild can figure it out.

After activating the engineering menu mode, you can go directly to the problem of increasing the sound on Android.

In the engineering menu, select the appropriate section, in our case it is “Hardware testing – audio”. By going to the appropriate section, select one of the parameters in which you need to increase the volume and try changing the parameters a little. Set the values to the smallest, save and check, and then put a little more if you want to increase it further, but don’t put a lot at once, otherwise you can simply break the speakers, increase by 2 points, each time and check, if it’s ok, save and exit.

It is worth noting that on Galaxy phone A3 was set to 210 and the speaker began to wheeze, so I had to set it to 190, this was quite enough, and the sound became much louder.

Then restart your Android and check the work done.

If there is insufficient improvement, try using the same method again. Do not forget that before using the proposed method, you should have open access to system files and superuser. To do this, you can use many computer programs and smartphone applications, and quickly read below how to get root rights. You should install the appropriate utility on your smartphone, and then perform all the manipulations given in the article.

An equally effective way is to use the special volume+ program. Download this program and having installed it on your smartphone, go to the speaker settings or headset settings menu, then go to the volume level section, set the appropriate parameters. Each item is labeled here, so you can change exactly those frequencies that you need. We need bass, increase the Bass Boost a little, you just need to make it louder, select Volume Level and move the slider a little to the right.

After setting the parameters, do not forget to restart your Android.

There are also other interesting programs for increasing the volume of your smartphone, which are available in Google Play, for example Volume Booster Plus, Audio Manager Pro, Music Volume Eq and others. It is worth noting that many applications require root access, so use our article.

Afterwards, simply download any application that increases the volume and install it on your smartphone. After launching the application, enter the menu, here you will see the speaker depicted; by clicking on it, you will start the optimization processes and increase the volume of the speakers. After completing this process, the volume of all multimedia applications will increase by an average of twenty percent.

Please note that these applications do not work with all Android systems, so when downloading, read carefully which version of the operating system is required.

So we have looked at the basic actions and methods for increasing the volume of your gadget. One important rule should be remembered: increasing the volume often distorts the quality of the reproduced sound, so you should not be overzealous with increasing the frequencies. There are also unofficial firmware for many devices that already have everything installed to the maximum, so if you want to improve your device in all respects, then you should look for such firmware specifically for your model. If you know any other ways, be sure to share in the comments.

Not all Android smartphones can boast loud speakers. Moreover, their sound depends not only on the quality and placement on the device body, but also on the fact that manufacturers deliberately lower the maximum volume in favor of safety for hearing and the speakers themselves. If you're not happy with this, there are several ways to bypass the limitation and increase the volume on Android.

Do you miss important calls when you are in public, noisy places, you can’t hear your interlocutor well in headphones, and videos and music are played very quietly? From this manual you will learn how to adjust the volume in the settings, increase it through a special application, the engineering menu, or by editing system file, If .

How to control volume on an Android smartphone

Starting with Android 6.0, all firmwares have separate volumes for multimedia, calls and alarms. When you adjust it using the keys while the settings, home screen, menu, etc. are open on the phone, only the ringtone volume changes. Therefore, when you turn on a game, music or video, media files will play quietly unless the volume level is set to high.

So if the call is heard well, but there is no multimedia, use the buttons to increase the volume when the radio, YouTube is on or the game is running.

The second way to change the volume level: press the volume key, click the arrow on the right and set the values for each slider.

You can also adjust the volume in the Sound menu in Settings.

In Android 9, the drop-down panel with volume sliders was removed. To go to the sound settings, click on any volume key, and then click on the gear icon. After that, the “Sound” section will open, where you can adjust the volume of the ringtone, alarm clock and multimedia.

Adjusting the volume in the Volume Booster app

Depending on the manufacturer, device and Android versions, you need to edit different files and different lines in them, so look for information on a specific model on specialized forums. For example, on Xiaomi Redmi 4 you need to make the following edits in the files mixer_path.xml and mixer_paths_mtp.xml (open the images in full size if you can’t see them).

These were all the working ways to increase sound volume on Android. If you have any difficulties, ask questions in the comments.

Every smartphone owner with operating system Android (“Android”) has probably more than once encountered inconsistency in sound volume in different device options or the problem of speakers that are too quiet, even in maximum volume mode. This becomes especially unpleasant when the sound cannot be increased even through the phone settings. However, there are other ways, for example, using the engineering menu. Increasing the volume in this case is not difficult.

How the sound is adjusted on phones and tablets running Android OS (“Android”)

The developers have included different volume modes in the Android OS, designed for different situations of using the smartphone, which depend on the connected devices. Thus, without a headset, the sound on the phone can be quiet, but when headphones are connected, it can be suddenly deafening with the melody of an incoming call. It is to eliminate such misunderstandings that you need to adjust the sound and change the volume using hidden methods.

How to change the volume of alarm, ringtone, music and video through settings

You can control the sound on a smartphone running Android OS using the buttons on its body, as well as through the internal settings of the standard menu. The setup methods are the same for smartphones and tablets, so you can easily understand the functionality.

  • Go to your device settings and select the “Sounds and notifications” section.
Select the "Sounds and notifications" section
  • Depending on the system version, you need to either click on the gear next to the active mode, or open the “Volume” subsection. If you are afraid of losing the default settings, you can add a new mode.
Click on the gear next to the active mode
  • In the window that opens, depending on the system version, the following options for changing the volume will be available to you:

  • for music, videos, games and other media files;
  • for calls and notifications;
  • for an alarm clock.
  • Adjust the settings so as to provide for all possible situations and prevent unexpected explosive sounds when a call or alarm rings.

The window will contain all the items that can be changed through standard settings

Another reason for a call that is too loud or not quiet enough may be the installed ringtones themselves. Standard sounds are usually leveled in volume, but there may also be those that begin with bright, sharp sounds, unlike others where the sound increases slowly and gradually.

  • In the sound settings, open the “Ringtone” item.
Quiet ringtone is one of the possible reasons, on which you may not hear the phone ringing
  • Listen to the proposed melodies and choose the most suitable one.
To listen to a melody, press it with your finger
  • In the same way, adjust the notification volume settings by visiting the corresponding section of the sound menu.
By analogy with choosing a ringtone, configure notification sounds
  • Check other settings and consider whether sounds such as key beeps when dialing a number, tapping and locking sounds will disturb you.
Mark only the sounds you need or set vibration
  • You can quickly change the sound level using the buttons on your smartphone or tablet. Manufacturers specially place these buttons on the body so that you can find them without looking and increase or decrease the sound. However, in this mode there are very few settings.

You can adjust the volume using the usual buttons on the phone body.

Pressing the volume up or down buttons will display the corresponding sliders on the device screen.

In some models, from this screen you can go to detailed settings by clicking on the corresponding icon to the right of the volume slider.

Some devices display a special button to go to settings

Sometimes the smartphone spontaneously goes into silent or silent mode, for no apparent reason. This most often happens with Samsung, HTC and Lenovo devices. This situation may occur when changing the audio profile from quiet to loud, followed by an outgoing call. When the call is completed, the new profile may fail, and the gadget will mistakenly restore the previous one. The solution is to reboot the device after changing the sound profile. This problem is related to bugs in the firmware version and is usually fixed by developers with the release of updates.

Increasing volume through the engineering menu

You can make more flexible sound settings if you go to the Andoid engineering menu. However, this section of the device is not so easy to access. The developers deliberately hid it from view ordinary users so that they cannot reset the settings and disrupt the operation of their device.

But for smartphone owners who want to understand everything and thoroughly study the operation of their device, the ability to access such settings is a real gift.

Do not forget that thoughtlessly changing parameters in the engineering menu can lead to malfunction of the gadget.

Before changing anything, you need to read all the available information on this item, compare it with how it looks on your device, and think about how you can quickly return everything back in case of unexpected behavior of the gadget. Only if you are confident in your own actions, you can proceed with the settings. It's best if you take a screenshot of the screen or copy the original values into Notepad before making changes so you can restore them back.

    Opening the menu via call

To enter the engineering settings menu you will not need special efforts and Root rights. The menu is entered through the dialing interface using a special code.

The access codes to the engineering menu are different for all devices, as they are set by the manufacturer, not by the system. All of them will be presented in the table below.

You need to dial the entry code to the engineering menu in the same way as a regular phone number. The engineering menu usually opens on its own after typing the last character of the code. If this does not happen, press the "Call" key.

Try different options if the first one doesn't work

    Table: access codes

Opening the menu through the application

If none of the codes work for you, try downloading a special utility from the Play Market that will create a separate shortcut to go to the engineering menu.

  • Open the Play Market and enter “engineer mode” in the search bar and select the first application you like.
All applications for entering the engineering menu are the same, so you can choose any
  • Install and launch the application.
The application will weigh very little and installation will not take much time
  • You will either be automatically sent to the engineering menu, or you will have to check the manufacturer of your device (or processor).
In some cases, you will need to check the manufacturer of your device
  • Increasing volume: step-by-step instructions

  • First of all, you need to open the Audio section. If it's not available initially, swipe left a few times to open the Hardware Testing tab.
Open the Audio section in the Hardware Testing tab
  • Now you will see a list of modes available for changing; you need to select one of the proposed ones.

The meanings of all modes are described in the table below
  • Now select the option to change in the Type section.
The values of all sound parameters are described in the table below
  • Select the volume level you want to adjust. There are 7 of them in total (from 0 to 6). These are the same levels that are set in the standard settings of the smartphone (when you press the volume up or down button on the smartphone, the level changes). It is best to start from the zero and last levels.

Set up the first and last levels first
  • Now you need to set the volume gain of the selected level (Value is) and press Set.

Set the volume gain and confirm the change

  • Similarly, you need to set the volume limit (Max Vol.). This is the maximum possible volume.
Set the volume limit to the selected level and press Set
  • In accordance with the set values, set the remaining levels so that the volume change through the buttons is as smooth as possible.
Calculate the volume levels on the calculator and adjust the missing ones
  • Similarly, configure other parameters and volume modes if they interest you.

How to increase volume through apps

In addition to the standard settings and system engineering menu, there is special programs, which allow you to make additional changes to the sound settings of your smartphone or tablet. Various programs do not work correctly on all devices, since they interfere with the normal functioning of the phone, and this is not welcomed by manufacturers. All of the programs described below are available in the Play Market.

You should also understand that such services for editing any smartphone restrictions that cannot be changed in normal ways can lead to disruption of the gadget’s operation and ultimately only worsen its performance.

    Volume+ (the most reliable application)

This application is only available in English, but is the least conflicting and almost incapable of causing sad consequences for your smartphone.

  • Find Volume+ in the Play Market and install it.
There is no point in downloading the paid version of Volume+
  • Launch the application and select the “Speaker Settings” section.
Volume+ has a lot of features, but you won't need many of them
  • The next screen will present a list of options available for change. First, check the Speaker Modifications and Virtual Room Effect boxes.
Check Speaker Modifications and Virtual Room Effect
  • Then increase the Volume Level, Bass Enchance and Virtual Room by one notch (this will increase the volume slightly).
Increase the marked parameters by one notch and check the effect
  • Test the changes in practice and change the settings again if necessary.
  • A sharp increase in parameters can cause freezes, crashes and other troubles in the operation of the device.

    JetAudio (equalizer and effects settings)

Jet Audio belongs to the category of equalizers and is a very functional program: it has an audio converter, player and ripper. Equalizer is just one of its options. The standard sound mode it uses is Normal Mode.

  • Find JetAudio in Play Market and install it.
JetAudio may be called a player or an equalizer, but they are the same program
  • Click the button in the top right corner to open the settings drop-down menu.
If the “Equalizer” button is accessible from the main screen, click on it
  • Select "Sound Effects...".
If the “Sound Effects...” button is missing, find the equalizer through “Settings”
  • Now open "Equalizer".
The rest of the buttons that appear may also be useful to you, especially the sound amplifier
  • On this tab, you can safely experiment with all the values without fear of harming the device. If you click on the button in the upper right corner, a list of additional built-in programs designed to change sound settings will open.
All changes made can be very easily returned back
  • The parameter with a value of 60 Hz must be left unchanged.

Do not forget that by increasing the volume of the sound, you lose in its quality, since not all models of smartphones and tablets are designed for good melodies. Some devices have weak speakers, excess load on which will cause wheezing and extraneous sounds. Don't let the speaker burn out and take care of your gadget.

Volume Booster Plus (automatic sound adjustment)

The program is available in the store Play applications Market and is the easiest to use.

Volume Booster Plus is the easiest to use volume control software

After installing and launching the application, you will see only one button that you need to click on.

After pressing the button in Volume Booster Plus, automatic optimization of volume parameters will begin

Ways to strengthen the speaker using improvised means

There are some neat tricks that can help you increase the audio volume on your device in a very simple way. To do this, you will only need available materials and minimal knowledge of the laws of physics.

  • Connect external speakers or speakers to your smartphone. Almost any external audio device will be better than the built-in speaker in your smartphone. Firstly, because it is larger in size and has more power. And secondly, gadget manufacturers often save on speakers by installing low-power ones, since users usually prefer to use their own speakers and headphones.
  • Place your device in a glass glass to enhance the sound when listening to music. Many gadget owners have already tried this method, despite the fact that it seems stupid. The glass works as a resonator, reflecting the sound wave. Some smartphone owners cut out horns from paper cups and attach them to the speaker of the gadget. To increase the volume of the alarm, especially witty users place the phone on a saucer with a coin and turn on the vibration mode at the same time as the ringing.
  • Take advantage of the acoustic properties of materials in the outside world that can reflect sound. Find a painted wall nearby and place your phone so the speakers are facing it. The sound will be reflected and intensified. Experiment with other similar materials.
  • How to remove the maximum sound level limit

Manufacturers of smartphones and tablets often set software restrictions on changing volume settings. That is, using the interface, you can set one sound level, but in reality the gadget will make sounds much quieter than you would like.

There is an opinion that to bypass this limitation, you need to reset the gadget settings to factory settings. However, there is no exact data on how this will affect your device specifically. There are a lot of gadget models; each manufacturer follows its own logic when setting standard settings. Resetting the settings will inevitably lead to the deletion of data on the phone. Therefore, if the effect of volume-increasing applications is not enough for you, prepare well and do backup copy information from the device.

Reset the settings to factory defaults, and then select the North America region as the default for your gadget. This is because smartphone manufacturers impose such restrictions in some countries, where societal norms may prohibit the use of settings that could violate the rights of others.

One of the main problems of cheap smartphones is the poor quality of the built-in speakers, which causes serious difficulties in sound reproduction. However, several simple ways, from built-in parameters to the use of improvised tools, will help owners of smartphones with Android OS quickly navigate the situation and change the sound settings to more comfortable ones.

Some smartphone owners complain that they have difficulty hearing the other person; music is played quietly through the speaker. There are several ways to increase the speaker volume on Android. Volume swing is not the only possible method.

Smartphone owners who have difficulty distinguishing the words of their interlocutor during conversations will be helped by information on how to increase the volume on Android through the engineering menu. You can adjust the volume of the speaker and headphones.

Initially, the engineering menu is hidden from users. This is explained by the fact that it is necessary only for experienced smartphone owners, who take full responsibility for possible problems with the electronic device.

The engineering menu is available only to owners of smartphones with a MediaTek processor. To activate it there are special codes, which may differ depending on the brand of device.

You need to enter codes like a regular number or USSD request. There is another way to call up the engineering menu - using special applications.

    1. The most popular is MTK Engineering Mode.
    2. There is one more free application– “Launch the MTK engineering menu.”

The choice of method will have virtually no effect on the algorithm of actions on how to increase the volume of the speakers. After entering the engineering menu, you need to enter the MTK Settings section, then select Hardware Testing Audio. After this, a list will open consisting of 8 categories. Of these, 5 are categories for increasing or decreasing the volume of sounds.

    1. Normal mode. In it, the phone works constantly when no peripheral devices are connected to it.
    2. Headset mode, it is activated when speakers or headphones are connected.
    3. Speakerphone mode, Android starts using it when nothing is connected to the smartphone and the user switches to speakerphone mode when making a call.
    4. Headphone mode with hands-free calling. The mode is activated when a person switches to loudspeaker mode with headphones connected to an electronic device.
    5. Volume during a call. Its activation occurs when a person is talking to someone as usual and no additional devices are connected to the phone.

In any of the above categories, when you select them, several sections will open.

    1. Microphone (Mic)
    2. The first and, in some smartphones, the second hearing speaker. (Sph, Sph2)
    3. Sid – changing the values of this parameter is not recommended, otherwise you can achieve the effect that a person will hear himself and not the interlocutor during a conversation.
    4. Media regulation. (Media)
    5. Adjusting the volume of incoming calls. (Ring)
    6. Some smartphones have a radio volume setting. (FMR)

    Examples

For example, if the interlocutor practically cannot hear you, you need to increase the microphone volume.

To do this, select Mic and maximum Level, which indicates the maximum step of the volume swing, then change the values in the Value section, thereby increasing the microphone volume. After that, click Set. If the Setting success window appears, the values have been changed and you can test them.

If a person’s smartphone does not have a high volume of incoming calls, the following steps must be taken. You will need to go to the engineering menu of the electronic device, go to the Audio section, then go to LoudSpeaker and select the Ring value. After this, for each step of the volume swing you need to increase the values. It is not recommended to set it to the maximum, for example, with a maximum of 160, it is advisable to set it to no more than 156. Otherwise, the speaker will make wheezing and noise when making a call.

    Finally

After any changes to the Value values, do not forget about the Set button, otherwise the actions will not be recorded and applied. Also, after applying new settings, some smartphones need to be rebooted and only then tested the new values.

Before making any changes, experienced smartphone users recommend rewriting the default values. This will allow you to return everything to its place in case of unsuccessful adjustment of the smartphone volume.

    Hello.

Unfortunately, the volume on the phone (or tablet) is not always sufficient: it is not so rare that you have to listen... Even worse, many people miss calls (sometimes important ones) when they are on the street or in some noisy place (just a quiet the call is almost inaudible).

In general, the reason for this “behavior” of the phone may be as technical. malfunction, and software (on some devices, developers deliberately lower the maximum possible sound for the sake of user safety - after all, too loud a sound can cause hearing problems!). Well, since it was limited programmatically, this means that this restriction can be removed if desired!

Actually, in this article I want to show several options on how you can solve the problem of too quiet sound on devices running Android.

Note! By the way, if you have weak sound only when playing some multimedia files (and in other situations everything is fine), I would recommend trying alternative audio-video players first:

    Using the settings menu

I want to start with the basics, despite possible objections... (there's just a little confusion about this, so it's definitely worth noting).

Volume adjustment in Android (when you press the side buttons on the phone body) can be done both for a specific application separately and globally (overall volume). For example, if you are watching a video and turn up the sound, the volume in this particular application will increase, but your call volume will not increase!

In general, for detailed sound settings on Android devices, you need to open the settings, section "Sounds and notifications" and then move the slider to the right for the desired line (for example, you can change the volume of the ringtone, notifications, music, video, alarm, etc.). See screenshot below.

With the help of special applications

Because The problem of low volume is quite popular, many developers have released special ones. applications that can use some of the “hidden” capabilities of your device. In principle, they (usually) do not need root rights, so you can use it without fear of “messing up” something in the settings...

A simple free application that will help increase the sound of your phone speaker (or headphones). Can be used when watching movies, listening to audio books, music.

I note that before using the application, it is recommended to unscrew the slider system sound at 100% (and then boost...).

Developer Warning: be careful! Turning up the volume may damage your device's speaker (or your hearing). Carry out the increase in small steps (testing each change), without sudden jerks to the maximum!

    Sound Booster

Sound Booster differs from other similar applications in that it processes the sound before it reaches the sound card(i.e. acts as a kind of intermediary). Of course, with the help of such technology it is possible to increase the volume in any other applications, games, when listening to music, watching movies, etc.

The application allows you to increase the sound up to 500% of the original level! Recommendation: do not immediately increase to the maximum, go in small steps, testing each increase...

It is also worth noting that the application has a built-in special. a filter that helps eliminate hiss and judder from an audio track after it has been processed and amplified. In general, I recommend you check it out!

    Amplifier

    Screenshot from the application developers

Another free and very simple application for amplifying sound on Android devices (I note that this application is entirely in Russian, which is good news).

Of course, like its analogues, it allows you to adjust the sound when playing media files (music, video, etc.), audio books, etc. It supports working with both headphones and system sound.

    Using the engineering menu

Android smartphones have a hidden engineering menu, which is used by developers for final testing of the device (including fine tuning sound). As a rule, the device is never set to maximum volume, and a potential reserve of 20-30% (sometimes more) remains.

Those. If you go into this engineering menu yourself and make “small” manipulations, you can significantly increase the volume of the phone.

I note that root rights are not needed for this procedure (which means the risk of spoiling something is reduced), however, I still urge you to be careful and change only those parameters that you know...

    Entering the engineering menu

To do this, you need to enter a special code. Each device (depending on the manufacturer and model) may have its own. I have collected some popular options in the table below. (if your device is new, you may need to refer to its instructions, the manufacturer’s official website).

Note: enter codes at your own peril and risk (despite the fact that they were collected, among other things, from official sources from manufacturers).

    Manufacturer Code
    Samsung, ZTE *#*#4636#*#* or *#*#8255#*#*
    Acer *#*#2237332846633#*#*
    Sony *#*#7378423#*#*
    HTC *#*#3424#*#* or

    *#*#4636#*#* or *#*#8255#*#*

    LG *#546368#*818# or 2945#*#
    Huawei *#*#2846579#*#* or *#*#2846579159#*#*
Fly, Lenovo, Acer, Prestigio, Philips, Texet, Alcatel *#*#3646633#*#*
    Alcatel (A3) *#*#825364#*#*
    BQ *#*#83781#*#*
Smartphones based on MTK processor *#*#3646633#*#* or *#*#54298#*#*

Entering engineering (sometimes called service) menu, open the "Audio" section ("Hardware Testing" tab). Next, pay attention to several points (see screenshot below):

    1. Normal Mode - normal (general) volume level;
    2. Headset Mode - level responsible for working with headphones, headsets, etc.;
    3. LoudSpeaker Mode - speakerphone settings;
    4. Headset_LoudSpeaker Mode - hands-free mode with a headset;
    5. Speech Enhancement - the level responsible for the conversation mode (without a headset).

Enter the desired menu (in my example, Normal Mode).

In the Level column, select each of the 14 levels one by one (you need to click all of them) and increase the “Value” values (by 15 points, for example) and "Max. Vol" (up to 155-160). By the way, "Max. Vol" cannot be higher than 160.

I note that after setting the numbers, click on the button Set (translation: install/set).

Note: in the “Type” column you can specify Sph (this is the sound of the conversational speaker).

To adjust the volume of an incoming call, in the “Audio” section, open “LoudSpeaker Mode”, and in the “Type” column, select “Ring”. Further by analogy with the example above.

After setting the settings, exit the engineering menu and reboot the phone. In this simple way it is possible to increase the volume by 15-20% (or more).

Alternative solutions in the comments are welcome...

    Good luck!
