Samsung galaxy tab 8.0 dimensions. Information about the dimensions and weight of the device, presented in different units of measurement

I use it only for the fifth day. Some delight, honestly. After the a10 pocketbook, which turned out to be weak and cumbersome, the samych seems miniature and powerful. The video player on the factory firmware plays everything (I have not tried 3D and FullHD, this is not its format)

This Samsung, as always, is good, but it is not for communication and for photos, but it has what it takes. Games all fly without lags, memory heaps (as anyone). Then I shoot and I can take good pictures with this device if I climb in the camera settings. So the tablet for games, the Internet via Wi fi and there is a remote control, which is very useful.

A bright tablet, it supports games without brakes, a cool white color, and the most important thing is that you can launch two applications on the screen at once ...

Thin, light, good screen. - There are quite a few functional improvements from Samsung over the original Android (if choosing between Nexus 7 2013).

for a week of use, one got out, but what a! In a browser game (as for me, it's the simplest: pirate treasures (collect colored stones three in a row) the left side gets very hot in portrait orientation. For 5 minutes degrees to 50 at least, it heats up, it feels very hot. And not hot. only the back cover, but also the screen).

A lot of unnecessary software that constantly wants to be updated. But I managed to cope with this. The price would be lower ...

Over time, it does not work as quickly as at the beginning of the purchase. But download the clean master, it will be better.

I did not find any significant shortcomings. Of the little things - desktops and menus are a little unevenly scrolling, there are minor slowdowns in the browser.

After 3 weeks the GPS antenna died. Under the guarantee, they first reset a week to the factory settings and gave the same inoperative GPS, and after reproducing the service workers, they changed the antenna. So far, it seems to be working.

As you probably know, Samsung is the world's largest manufacturer of Android devices, and the second largest supplier of tablets to the global market after Apple. We have already had the opportunity to make sure that the tablets of the Korean manufacturer have very good capabilities and are among the best options when the question of buying an Android tablet arises.

If you are looking for a tablet that combines the convenience of a large-screen device that 10-inch devices provide us with the compactness that is a hallmark of a 7-inch tablet, then you must have turned your attention to Samsung's 8-inch tablets. We introduced you to one of them, Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 in this review, and today I want to present you with a review of a cheaper one. Galaxy Tab 3 8.0.

And before we start looking at the merits and demerits of this tablet in detail, let's brush up on its key specs.

    Specifications Galaxy Tab 3 8.0

Processor: Samsung Exynos 4412, dual core 1.5 GHz

    RAM 1.5 GB

    Built-in memory: 16 GB

    Expandable built-in memory: microSD slot

    Battery: 4450mAh

    WiFi adapter 802.11 b / g / n, 2.4 and 5 GHz

Operating system: Android 4.2.2 with Samsung add-ons

Now, let's take a look at the main advantages and disadvantages of this tablet.

    Dignity

    Slim and compact design

    Light weight

    Excellent build quality

The ability to run applications in multi-window mode

Good screen with decent viewing angles

    Long battery life

    Flaws

Screen resolution as low as 1280 x 800 pixels

    Slowness in some applications

Hardware navigation buttons are sometimes inconvenient to use

    "Cheap" type of body materials

    Traditionally bad camera for tablets

    Quite high price

New Nexus 7 (2103) is already on sale

    Design, materials and build quality

Like its more expensive sibling, the Galaxy Note 8.0, the Galaxy Tab 3 is virtually identical in design to Samsung's smartphones and looks like a noticeably grown Galaxy S4. It has a screen with the same aspect ratio, its body has the same metallic bezel at the ends, and even the location and shape of the navigation buttons on this tablet are the same as on the Galaxy S4.

Also, the body materials that Samsung uses in the production of the latest models of its smartphones and tablets are no different. The Galaxy Tab 3 is half a millimeter thinner than the Galaxy Note 8.0 and weighs in at the same weight as the more compact 7-inch tablets.

The back panel of the tablet is made of the same slippery plastic that Samsung has been using for a long time, so you are probably familiar with the main drawback of this solution - it collects your fingerprints well, and in order for the tablet to look neat, you will have to regularly wipe not only its screen but also the back panel.

In addition, when running heavy applications and games, the slippery body of the tablet heats up noticeably, which does not add to its ease of use.

Otherwise, everything is fine. We did not notice any creaks or backlash between the elements of the case, they all fit together perfectly, the buttons respond adequately to pressing with excellent tactile feedback.

Despite the appearance, and the Galaxy Tab 3 looks quite elegant, the tablet leaves the impression of a well-assembled and reliable device.

As for the controls, the tablet has a minimum of them. These are power buttons, a volume rocker, a mechanical Home button and two touch-sensitive navigation buttons located under the screen.

At the bottom of the tablet you will find a MicroUSB port, and stereo speakers are also located below. Some Android device makers have ditched the microSD card slot, but Samsung still equips its tablets with it. The lid that covers it looks flimsy enough, so you'll have to handle it carefully. At the top there is traditionally a headset connector.

In general, the design is perfectly balanced, the tablet is comfortable enough to hold even with one hand. The only inconvenience you may have is the navigation buttons located too close to the edge of the tablet, which are inconvenient to press when you hold it with both hands in a horizontal orientation.

    Screen

A year ago, or even half a year ago, choosing a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels for an eight-inch screen would have seemed perfectly reasonable. Now, especially since the second generation Nexus 7 with 1920 x 1200 screen resolution, it seems to be insufficient.

Although I cannot say that the resolution of 1280 x 800 is bad. Let's not forget that a couple of years ago, screens of this resolution were used only in flagship devices from leading manufacturers.

Traditionally, Samsung has used very high quality panels in the production of screens for its tablets, which have excellent color reproduction, brightness levels and viewing angles. The screen of our Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 was no exception in this regard.

    Camera

I have always been of the opinion that a tablet is not the device that needs to be used for photo and video shooting, and I was cool about the technical parameters of the cameras used in these devices. Moreover, so far, their matrices are far enough not only to camera matrices, but also to multi-megapixel matrices that many manufacturers install in their smartphones.

And here the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 is no exception. Its cameras (5MP rear and 1.3MP front) take pretty mediocre pictures. The qualities that the tablet's front camera provide is sufficient for video chatting, but pictures taken with the rear camera will suffer from noise and look washed out even in bright natural light.

    Software

Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 runs on Google Android 4.2.2 operating system, which is hidden under the proprietary Samsung TouchWiz shell. Some smartphone and tablet owners love TouchWiz, and some don't. But, in fairness, it is worth noting that there are still more advantages in it than disadvantages. Owners of the Galaxy S4 will find on the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 almost all the proprietary "goodies", with the possible exception of the ability to turn the tablet into a TV remote control due to the lack of an infrared transmitter in it.

You can change the number and order of tables, flip through them and make all those familiar to us from the latest generations of Android Samsung devices. TouchWiz is pretty easy to use, and you won't find any terrible flaws in it.

However, it is not clear why shortcuts in the app drawer are not sorted alphabetically by default, and this can sometimes be annoying, especially when the number of programs installed on the tablet exceeds three to four dozen.

Also, for some reason, the notification curtain, when you lower it, takes up the entire width of the screen, as it happens on smartphones, and not on tablets. The quick settings access panel seems a little cluttered, as some of the shortcuts in it are duplicated at the top of the notification curtain.

Everything else, including a set of branded "smart" features, mostly evokes positive emotions. This is, for example, Smart Stay mode, which does not dim the screen backlight while you are looking at it. True, smart screen rotation, which chooses the optimal rotation (portrait or landscape) in accordance with the position of your head, works correctly in exactly half the cases, although the idea behind it is quite clever.

One of the great things that you will definitely love is the ability to run applications in multi-window mode. It is activated by a long press on the "Back" button, after which you can select the programs with which you would like to work at the same time on the pull-out side panel. Unfortunately, this feature only applies to a limited number of applications.

Voice control is activated with a double tap on the Home button, but this feature still requires serious work and does not compare with the capabilities of Google Now. And even worse, it causes a delay in the response of the Home button, since the system takes some time to wait for a second press to occur or not. However, at any time you can turn off the voice assistant S Voice.

    Performance and battery life

The Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 is based on Samsung's own Exynos 4212 processor, which is a dual-core System-on-Chip that combines two ARM Cortex-A9 computing cores running at 1.5 GHz and an ARM Mali-400 MP4 GPU. This chip is paired with 1.5 GB of RAM. Both the first and the second, of course, are clearly not enough for a modern tablet, as you will see practically in the first minutes of using the tablet.

Theoretically, a dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor with one and a half gigabytes of "RAM" should be enough to serve the operating system itself, but do not forget that the aforementioned TouchWiz shell consumes a lot of resources, which constantly "slows down" in one, then somewhere else.

Moreover, the regularity of the occurrence of these lags is quite difficult to detect. Moving between desktops is usually smooth, but sometimes the animation stutters. The application bar seems to work smoothly, but sometimes you can notice delays here.

Changing the screen orientation on Android devices in the olden days caused a lot of criticism, but on modern devices we have practically forgotten about switching delays. You will occasionally shake the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 in the hopes of speeding up switching from one screen orientation to another.

How about tests? If you are interested, then in AnTuTu Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 scores just over 10,000 points, which, frankly, is far from the worst result, but do not forget that we are talking about a tablet, the price of which is noticeably higher than the average price for such devices.

But the battery life of this tablet will be a very pleasant surprise for many. Samsung equipped it with a 4450 mAh battery, and the tablet processor coupled with the screen consumes its charge quite sparingly. You should have no problem charging the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 every 2 days if you use it intensively on a daily basis. Unless, of course, you will watch movies or play heavy games all day, and the brightness of the tablet screen will be set to "Auto" mode.

    Conclusion

So what about the new Galaxy Tab 3 8.0? Personally, it seems to me that this tablet is not good enough for the role of a leader. If we compare it with the Apple iPad Mini (not taking into account the difference in operating systems), then the Samsung tablet wins both in its cost and in terms of equipment from its competitor.

But if we compare the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 with the seven-inch Google Nexus 7 of 2013, then our tablet is inferior to it in almost everything: price, screen resolution, speed and even form factor (although the form factor is a moot point).

Therefore, many will choose the Samsung tablet as a cheaper alternative to the iPad Mini, but for those who need an inexpensive compact, but modern device, I would recommend taking a closer look at the new Nexus 7.

Samsung fans who can't get away from proprietary add-ons to pure Android running on Google tablets may opt for the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 for this very reason. But is it worth it to overpay a significant enough amount? Personally, I'm not at all sure.

If this tablet cost even as much as the new Nexus, it would have a pretty bright future. In a nutshell, in my humble opinion, Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 is a tablet for those who choose a friend not with their mind or wallet, but with their heart.

The third generation of "tabs" came out in three faces. Senior and junior - in the classic ten- and seven-inch guises. Medium - in the less classic, but rapidly gaining momentum, the "eight" form factor. I mean, with an eight-inch display. More "square" than the seven-inch screen, which allows you to see more information, fell in love with users who want to have a small tablet since the days ... Well, you know the name of the popular tablet, which pleased the world with its phenomenon last fall. Although it is quite possible to start counting from the Galaxy Tab 7.7, which was born even earlier and was one of the first eight-inch "tablets". Its descendant, Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0, where 8.0 is the diagonal designation, got into our edition. This is him in the photo. And now - in more detail.

    Video review

    Design and construction

The line between tablets and smartphones is gradually blurring, largely due to the efforts of Samsung. It was this company that once created the first Samsung Galaxy Note, a 5.3-inch smartphone. This seemed to her not enough, and heavy artillery was used in the form of Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 and Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3. At the same time, small tablets are gradually overgrown with 3G support, not only for the Internet, but also for calls. All these words are a long preamble, leading to the fact that it is extremely difficult to take it right away and figure out what kind of device in front of you is. And if it is also a Samsung device that maintains uniformity in design ... And if it is also in a photograph, and without anything nearby, it’s a disaster.

Together with 7- and 10-inch tablets

True, I would not call such a nice device a disaster: although the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 looks like a huge smartphone (most of all, like an overgrown Galaxy S4), for some reason it is in the eight-inch version that such a corporate design looks the most advantageous. Moreover, it is very thin, graceful, and 314 grams will not burden the bag too much. This weight was achieved thanks to the case material: the cover, traditionally for Samsung, is made of plastic. White, smooth, high quality and pleasant in appearance and touch.

The cover is not removable, the battery, respectively, too. The manufacturer defined the slots for the SIM-card and microSD on the left side, they are closed with usual plugs (fortunately, without a key-clip, which causes a lot of problems).

On the right side there is a power and volume control key, as well as an infrared port for using the tablet as a universal control panel. Above - an audio jack for a headset, below - microUSB and small stereo speakers. With the usual landscape grip, it is easy to overlap them with your fingers, this must be taken into account. True, their location is much better than it could be: even today there are enough tablets with speakers on the "back": they are covered, if not by a surface, then by some kind of cover.

    Display and ergonomics

Buttons for Android control are located under the screen and do not take away valuable millimeters of it. One of them is physical, two are sensory. Convenient and no frills. But still, it is already inconvenient to operate with one hand with such dimensions. Even if you have large palms, you will need both for active use of the tablet.

The screen with a resolution of 800x1280 pixels at eight inches does not amaze with its pixel density and the resulting whole picture, which can be observed on the Samsung Galaxy S4. Nevertheless, the grain is almost invisible, and this is definitely not worse than the direct competitor - Apple iPad Mini, and even slightly better (189 ppi for the Tab 3 versus 152 for the small apple tablet). The sensor of the tablet is very sensitive, it distinguishes up to 10 simultaneous clicks, the colors are subjectively pleasant, bright, but not "jerky-eyed", as is the case with Amoled. True, there is no black color, like in Amoled, here, therefore, the measured contrast - average, or slightly higher, amounted to 611: 1.

The screen is prone to cool shades, but they can be somewhat "warmed" using the settings menu. There you can choose from dynamic, standard or cinematic mode. By the way, watching a movie on a tablet is pleasant, thanks to the 16:10 aspect ratio. Films can be watched in a small company in the sense that the viewing angles are wide. On a fine sunny day, you can read on the street, but watching a movie is no longer so comfortable. For viewing sites, it seems to me more pleasant format "quadratic" 4: 3 like ... well, you know who has it. Why? Websites don't look like narrow stripes. However, a user who is already accustomed to surfing the Internet from a smartphone will not perceive this as an inconvenience. Below we have given the graphs of measurements of the colorimeter.

    System and performance

Responsible for work and performance is a dual-core Exynos processor with a frequency of 1.5 GHz, along with Mali-400 MP graphics. They are helped by one and a half gigabytes of RAM and a 16-gigabyte drive. It's not that much, but since there is a microSD slot, I don't see a problem. The hardware is average, especially for a device with such a large screen, but it is quite enough for watching movies in FullHD-resolution and for 3D games. I had a chance to play Real Racing 3 and Dead Trigger on it. The tablet did not slow down, it is pleasant and comfortable to play on it: a large screen with a light body creates a good base for games with a motion sensor. The Android 4.2 Jellybean, TouchWiz interface worked smoothly, but when the memory was clogged in test modes, there were rare slowdowns.

The operating system and its "goodies" here are about the same as in all other Samsung devices in this price category. So, for example, there is face recognition: if you do not look at the screen, it goes out. And you can also set up gestures and slow down the player by closing the top of the screen, or take a screenshot by swiping the edge of your palm across the display (by the way, why? Is this function really necessary for an ordinary user?). Given the large diagonal, some multitasking user may appreciate the ability to work in two applications displayed on the screen at the same time. Well, let's say, watching a movie and checking your mail is convenient! I also really like the customizable Android 4.2 Jellybean dashboard that can be invoked by swiping up from the bottom.

Here you have access to the most important, for example, activating Wi-Fi or mute, as well as a bar screen brightness. You can use Tab 3 as a smartphone, but, as expected, it is inconvenient without a headset: the tube is too big. The interface of the smartphone is quite clear and usual here.

    Camera

Five megapixels with autofocus, but no flash - for a tablet, in my opinion, this is enough for a head. Even with such a small mass, it is somewhat difficult to shoot from such a colossus. However, it can come in handy. Below are examples of snapshots and a video in 720p resolution, the highest possible for the Tab 3's built-in camera.

Cats consider tablet shooting as impractical and refuse to pose

    Sound

The speakers are quite loud, in a quiet room you can watch a movie without using headphones. However, it is better to resort to the latter: the speakers are decent, they hardly creak at maximum volume, in addition to the most dynamic moments, but the sound is poorly detailed and flat. But rubbing it with a friend on Skype or watching a movie is possible. But in the headphones, the Galaxy Tab 3 turns into a full-fledged audio player with good sound. Only a very large one.

    Autonomy, noise, heating

The eight-inch Tab 3 comes with a capacious 4450 mAh battery, which allows it to work for about two days without recharging in medium-active mode, but if you use the tablet actively, then, like a regular smartphone, you have to charge it every evening. In Ukraine, Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 can be purchased for more than 3,000 hryvnia.

    Competitors

Of course, there are not so many branded tablets in the eight-inch form factor. And the most obvious competitor is the close relative of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0. It looks less like a smartphone, that is, its frame is not so narrow, and it itself is not so thin and a little heavier than the Tab 3. But the Note 8 is equipped with an S-Pen and special applications for it. The hardware and screen of the siblings are similar, but the Note has a faster processor and more RAM. Well, another competitor, where can we go without it - Apple iPad Mini. This is a matter of personal preference, which one to choose, but if you want to use the tablet as a smartphone, then you are clearly not for the iPad. In addition, the market is full of 7-inch competitors, for example, the new Nexus 7 with 3G, which has a very attractive price.

    In the dry residue

For some reason, it seems to me that it is the eight-inch Tab 3 that has the greatest chances of conquering the market among all the tablets of the family. Especially women should like it: it is small, lightweight, with a nice design and support for most modern Android features. And if something happens, a smartphone can be replaced. About 3 thousand hryvnia (12,000 rubles) - this is the price for the WiFi version of the tablet. For the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 with 3g, you will have to pay about 4 thousand-odd Ukrainian money, or about 16,000 Russian. The price, in light of the slightly more expensive competitors, seems quite attractive.

3 reasons to buy the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0:

    • Slim and lightweight body;
    • good screen;
    • nice design.

1 reason not to buy the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0:

    • Not the longest battery life.

The first representative of eight-inch tablets from Samsung can be called the Galaxy Tab 7.7. The model turned out to be extremely successful, only the built-in software pumped up. I think that the success of the Tab 7.7 showed the company that users are ready to buy 8-inch devices and the small difference in size does not scare them at all. The second device in the "eight" format was the Galaxy Note 8.0, which due to its price turned out to be a niche offer, interesting for users who want to have a compact tablet with a stylus.

The Tab 3 8.0 reviewed today is aimed at the mass market, as evidenced by both its positioning and price.

    Equipment

    • Tablet
    • Charger
    • PC cable
    • Wired earplug headset

Once again, I will praise Samsung for the high-quality (for complete) headphones, which were put in the box with the device. They are perfect for the unassuming user.

    Appearance, materials, controls, assembly

There is not much to say about the design of the Tab 3 8.0, this is a typical device from Samsung, made with an eye on the Galaxy S4. An interesting solution was the narrow bezels around the display.

Most of the front side of the tablet is occupied by an eight-inch screen, above it there is an earpiece, light and proximity sensors, and below it - touch buttons "Menu" and "Back", as well as a physical button "Home". The latter also allows you to turn on the tablet screen.

On the left side you can see the power button, the volume rocker and the IrDA hole.

On the right are slots for a microSDHC memory card and a microSIM SIM card (in versions with a 3G module).

The place for the 3.5 mm connector was allocated on the top end, and for the microUSB connector - on the bottom. Also hidden below are two stereo speakers and a microphone hole.

The back of the device is made of glossy white plastic. Of the elements, there is only a 5 MP main camera on it.

In my sample, the lower right edge of the screen sagged slightly when pressed. I don't think this is a massive problem, but just in case, check this point when buying.

    Dimensions (edit)

In my opinion, the ideal dimensions for eight-inch tablets should be slightly larger than their seven-inch counterparts, so that the user can take full advantage of the increased diagonal without the disadvantage of more weight or width. And Tab 3 8.0 fits this criterion perfectly. If you take a look at the list below, you can notice that the width of this tablet is only slightly larger than that of its 7-inch “colleagues”. And if we talk about weight and thickness, then here Tab 3 8.0 is almost an absolute leader, second only to the iPad Mini.

Compared with Asus MemoPad HD 7

    • Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0- 209.8x123.8x7.4 mm, weight - 314 grams
    • Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0- 211x136x8 mm, weight - 338 grams
    • Acer A1- 209x146x11 mm, weight - 410 grams
    • Explay sQuad 7.81- 200x139x8 mm, weight - 345 grams
    • Google Nexus 7- 199x120x11 mm, weight - 340 grams
    • Asus Fonepad- 196x120x10 mm, weight - 340 grams
    • Apple iPad Mini- 200x135x7 mm, weight - 312 grams

It is convenient to hold the tablet for a long time with one or two hands - the device is very thin and light.

The tablet has an eight-inch display with a resolution of 1280x800 pixels, the matrix type is TFT-PLS, the screen is covered with protective glass (I suspect it's Gorilla Glass, but there is no official information on this), an oleophobic coating is present.

The screen has good viewing angles, at maximum deviation the image fades, but there is no color inversion. The picture itself is bright, clear, while the colors are soft and natural. It is convenient to both read books and watch videos from this display.

Separately, I would note the size of the screen: firstly, despite the difference of only an inch, an eight-inch tablet is much more convenient to use than a seven-inch one. And secondly, Samsung uses separate buttons below the screen, which gives additional space, which is usually occupied by on-screen keys. As a result, the Tab 3 8.0's screen feels much larger than the 7-inch rivals.

    Operating system

The tablet has Android 4.2.2 with a proprietary TouchWiz shell. According to first impressions, the shell almost completely repeats that of the Galaxy Note 8.0. You can read more about it at the link below:

    Performance

The device is equipped with a dual-core Exynos 4412 processor operating at a frequency of 1.5 GHz, a video accelerator - Mali 400MP. The amount of RAM is 1.5 GB, the capacity of the internal storage is 16 GB (about 11 GB is available to the user), there is support for microSDHC memory cards up to 64 GB inclusive.

The results of the tablet in benchmarks are very mediocre, but in practice there are no complaints about its work: browser, launcher, mail, heavy games - all these operations are performed quickly and without slowdowns. Which once again shows that a quad-core processor is not needed for good performance.

    Autonomous work

The tablet has a non-removable 4450 mAh battery.

From this review on, the reading mode will be tested at 30% brightness.

In reading mode (brightness 30%, "airplane mode" on) the tablet was discharged in 13 hours.

In video mode, the device was charged for 6 hours (maximum brightness, "airplane mode" on).

If we talk about everyday use (brightness 40-50%, total screen activity about an hour a day), the tablet can last 5-6 days perfectly.

These are excellent indicators for a portable device. You will most likely charge your tablet no more than twice a week.

    Wireless interfaces

Wi-Fi (b / g / n)- the module supports operation at 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. In addition to simple network connection, Wi-Fi Direct and Wi-Fi Router functions are available (only in the tablet version with 3G).

Mobile network- The 3G version of the tablet works in 2G (GSM / GPRS / EDGE, 850/900/1800/1900 MHz) and 3G (900/2100 MHz) cellular networks.

Bluetooth 4.0- all popular profiles are supported, including A2DP.

GPS and GLONASS- cold start takes 20-25 seconds.

Infrared port- used to control your TV from a tablet.

    Camera

The tablet has two cameras: the main one with 5 MP with autofocus and the front one with 1.3 MP. The pictures from the main camera are very mediocre, the same goes for the video. This camera is only suitable for shooting macro or text, in other situations I would recommend using something else for shooting.

The front camera is great for Skype video calls, and the image quality is on par with other Android tablets.

    Conclusion

    • Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 16GB Wi-Fi - 12,000 rubles
    • Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 16GB Wi-Fi + 3G - 16,000 rubles

For this money, you get a thin and light tablet with a high-quality screen, good battery life and a lot of software "chips" from the manufacturer (the ability to make voice calls, the function of controlling the TV using the infrared port, its own keyboard and browser, etc.). The undisputed advantage of Tab 3 8.0 over all "sevens" on Android is the larger screen diagonal and more used space (thanks to the touch buttons under the screen). At the same time, the dimensions of the tablet are at the level of most seven-inch tablets.

I can safely recommend Tab 3 8.0 as a universal compact tablet for Android: it is convenient to watch videos from it, it is comfortable to read both books and articles from the Internet on it, the processor power is perfectly sufficient for modern games.

Yes, the Tab 3 8.0 is more expensive than most compact tablets, but it also has enough advantages.

The only competitor to this tablet can be called the iPad Mini, which has the same screen size, dimensions and price. On the Mini side, there are better materials and a larger assortment of games. Tab 3 8.0 wins with support for memory cards and more convenient video viewing (codecs, aspect ratio). Choosing between Tab 3 8.0 and iPad Mini is more a choice between ecosystems than between technical characteristics, and here it is worth deciding which is closer to you, iOS or Android.
