Wireless headset xiaomi mi. Review of Xiaomi Mi Sport Bluetooth Headset wireless headphones

Having tasted the wireless sound for the street on Meizu Pop, I decided to look for an option for the home. The choice fell on the new wireless headphones from Xiaomi. I was impressed by the aptX support, reasonable price, convenient design and good battery life. But in reality everything turned out to be not so sweet.
I invite everyone interested to cat.

The order from the Gearbest UTEC"OM store arrived in Ukraine in a week and a half. With 1034 points it came out to $48 and kopecks.

Package

Supplied in a fairly large box made of thick cardboard and plastic. If during transportation someone sits on the transparent part of the packaging, the headphones will have little chance of surviving.

On the reverse side there is a description in Chinese and English.

Includes only headphones and waste paper. Thanks to JD, every second Muskovian already has a dozen extra cables, but it’s at least indecent not to include a cheap charging cable in the package with a product for 60-70 bucks.

Appearance

The headphones are only available in black. Externally they are a copy of the wired Mi Comfort headset. The body is almost entirely made entirely of matte plastic. Tactilely it has nothing in common with the pleasant-to-touch material that is used in the vast majority of Xiaomi gadgets. But he doesn’t really collect fingerprints on himself. Quite a lot of experience in using various products from this manufacturer has long ago made it possible to draw up a short thesis - “If the device is from Xiaomi, then it is assembled perfectly.” But not in this case. It feels like I bought some “Super Bass Boost” headphones from the transition for 2 kopecks. You can’t pick them up and not hear a crunch, a squeak, or some other damn thing. The few reviews and reviews on YouTube are either silent about this, or I was just unlucky. Weighs 235 grams. Dimensions: 199 * 82 * 255 mm.

Let's start from the top. There is a Xiaomi logo on the outer part of the headband.

The material on the inside is dense silicone, turning into plastic at the bend.

It is possible to fold the headphones for easy transportation. It’s just that the bag, like its predecessor, is not included in the kit either.

At the fold on the left cup there is the name of the device and other uninteresting information.

The opposite side is empty.

To extend the headband, a mechanism with a steel plate at the base and eight positions, including the original one, is used. It extends until it clicks, but the necessary fixation in the desired position is not ensured. You just need to remove the headphones from your head a little faster than usual, and the position on one side will shift.

On the outside of the cups there is the same perforated pattern as on Mi Comfort.

On the right “ear” the only interesting thing is an additional microphone for noise reduction.

All controls are located on the left cup.

Half of them are hidden behind a carelessly pasted piece of paper with operating instructions. The panel is not touch sensitive. The decorative insert presses on the button hidden inside the cup. The pressure-sensitive zone starts from the center of this insert and reaches the very bottom, where it works better than anything else.
The following actions are provided for management:

  • One click - play/pause;
  • Double click - launch the voice assistant on the phone;
  • One click on an incoming call - accept;
  • Hold on incoming call - reject;
  • Long hold - on/off;

There is also an LED on this cup. Flashes blue once every 7 seconds when turned on.

The entire inside of the earcup is movable, so, in theory, the headphones should fit comfortably on heads of different sizes and shapes.

The ear pads are soft and removable. I have not noticed any special memory effect yet. Just minor creases.

The “case” is made of PU leather.

And the filler is something like ordinary foam rubber.

The ear pads can be removed and put on without any problems. The speaker is covered with a sandwich made of mesh fabric and foam rubber. L/R marks are present. By the way, it is not necessary to follow the recommendations.

The filling of the cups is held in place by four small screws. It was not possible to get to the board without ripping out the case.

There is a volume rocker at the bottom of the left cup.

And on the right there is a microUSB port for charging and the main microphone. Xiaomi installed Type C in their razor, and a microUSB headset in BT. L - logic. There is also no 3.5 mm mini jack. If something happens, there will be no wired backup option. I only took it for home use, so it doesn’t matter to me.

Convenience during prolonged use was perhaps the main criterion, because There is no living space left on my head from my wired Marshall Major 2. Since the design of the subject is a copy of Comfort's, and in all the reviews their main advantage was called convenience, I was sure in advance that I would not go wrong. And I did not go wrong. They sit very comfortably on the head. They do not put pressure either on top or in the ears. It fits well too . When turning sharply, my head does not fall off. My ears are hidden in the ear pads by about 80 percent. After 2 hours of continuous use in a cool room, my ears did not sweat. I did not wear them outside, because the headphones are too huge. They stick out on the sides by ~4.2 cm.

Sound, autonomy

The headphones are equipped with a CSR8645 audio module with aptX support and 40 mm dynamic drivers. Bluetooth version 4.1. Supported BT profiles: HFP, HSP, A2DP, AVRCP. Defined as Mi Bluetooth Headphones. Each switching on, switching off, unlinking and linking to the source will be accompanied by an annoying set of words on Chinese. It is possible to connect to two sources simultaneously.

Microphone. There are no problems at all with talking through the subject. It's a pleasure to use as a headset for some Skype. There is no extraneous noise. The interlocutor and I can hear the interlocutor without problems. There is no need to ask again. Perhaps on a noisy street the picture will be different.
Latency when watching videos. On the PC & Orico BTA-403 with BT 4.1, on the PC & BlitzWolf BW-BR4 with BT 5.0 and on the OnePlus 6 also with BT 5.0 there is no out of sync.
Signal quality. Up to 10 meters stated. In an apartment of 50 m², no matter how many walls you go into, there are no stutters, breaks or other interruptions. When you cover the cups with your palms, the playback does not pause either. The location of the source also does not affect anything in my case.
Noise insulation. There is no need to talk about complete sound insulation in these headphones, but the minimum amount of unnecessary minor sounds is eliminated. Those around you can hear the music you listen to a little.
Sound. It’s worth noting right away that if your playlist includes recordings with a bitrate below 320kbps and you listen at a volume above average on a source without aptX support, your ears will start bleeding with these headphones. In all other cases, not everything is so bad. On high-quality recordings, the difference between “with aptX” and “without aptX” is not amazing, but it makes the sound somewhat more detailed, more voluminous and slightly adds expressiveness to the low frequencies. In complex compositions with many different instruments at maximum volume, the sound becomes harsh, high and mid frequencies mix into a mess. In this case, you cannot do without edits in the equalizer. The most acceptable volume level for me, at which some frequency balance is still maintained, is around 85%, which is quite enough. But the emphasis is still on the high ones. By moderating their ardor, a more balanced picture emerges. Low frequencies by default are not expressive enough and do not reveal their full potential. By using any available “improvers,” a completely different, noticeable and rich bass appears. Doesn't work on other frequencies. The most profitable genres for these headphones are electronic, pop and maybe hip-hop. Light rock will also be overcooked, but something like Five Finger Death Punch - Sham Pain sounds dirty and no adjustments can fix it. In short, with heavy music you cannot get clarity and detail on Mi Bluetooth Headphones. The above-mentioned Marshalls, for example, reproduce the same song without any roughness at all.
Autonomy. Stores indicate in the description that the subject has a 400 mAh battery installed, but there is not a word about this on the packaging itself or in the instructions. But there is a note about charging time - 2.5 hours. The current supply (up to 0.2A) stopped after 1:19 at ~260 mAh, but the LED went out after ~1:47. The “poured” amount did not increase during this half hour. It is not clear what causes this difference in charging time. The stated standby time is 200 hours. As they say, it’s a strong statement, of course I won’t check it. My copy, with continuous music playback at maximum volume, lasted 9 hours 45 minutes, which is 15 minutes less than promised. At 50% volume, the headphones showed excellent results - 19 hours and 50 minutes.

Conclusion

What can I say in the end? The build quality was disappointing. Some of the cheapest plastic Philips, which I bought about 15 years ago, were free of such problems. If the reviews on the Internet really don’t deceive, then it’s just my copy that was unsuccessful. I’m not particularly aware of the favorites in terms of autonomy among similar headphones, but I consider 10 hours at maximum volume and 20 at medium volume a very decent indicator. I am also pleased with the ergonomics, high-quality microphone and aptX support. As for the sound, it costs about 40 bucks, and for $65-70 there are better options.
Thanks to all.

I'm planning to buy +5 Add to favorites I liked the review +34 +46

Xiaomi is one of the rare manufacturers that successfully asserts itself in almost all areas of electronics. Accessories under this brand have gained no less popularity than smartphones. We have already tested fitness bracelets, external batteries, speakers, and fans. Today the focus is on the inexpensive Xiaomi Mi Bluetooth Headset. One of the most inexpensive offers, the difference compared to the youngest Plantronics headset is almost double.

It is available both in Russian stores (around 1,400 rubles) and Chinese (950 rubles). Taking into account the fact that warranty and service maintenance is still not provided, the point of overpaying can only be in the absence of time to wait.

Xiaomi Mi Bluetooth headset review

Equipment

The Xiaomi Mi Bluetooth headset is supplied in a simple and compact box with a transparent lid.

The package includes two replaceable rubber ear pads and a short micro USB cable for charging.

Appearance

The Xiaomi Mi Bluetooth headset case is made in the form of a cylinder of the correct shape. In terms of dimensions, it is comparable to an AAA battery. Light weight.

The speaker is located in a protruding leg with a rubber ear pad. There is a small ring for a stable position in the ear; it can also be used to hang the headset during transport.

There is a small recess in which the microphone and LED indicator are located. Depending on the current state, lights up red or blue.

There is a micro USB connector on one side; it is not covered with a protective cap.

Above mechanical button with an icon. It is easy to press and can be used to answer an incoming call and turn on the headset.

The Xiaomi Mi Bluetooth headset includes two additional ear pads that differ in size. You can choose the anatomical features to suit your needs; it will not fall out of your ear while moving. Under the ear pad there is a speaker with a metal mesh.

The body is made of plastic. There is a white and black version of this headset. The coating is resistant to fingerprints.

Tests

Xiaomi Mi Bluetooth headset connects using Bluetooth 4.1 with A2DP support. You can connect two smartphones to one headset at the same time. This procedure is carried out by serial connection, with switching off after the first successful synchronization. In the future, when you turn on the headset, both phones will be connected.

Weighing 6.5 grams, the headset works in standby mode for a week and about 5 hours of talk time. Charging takes approximately 2 hours.

The controls are easy to understand. A single press of the button will answer or end the call. Double click – call the last caller. Long click – voice assistant.

There are no problems with conversations. The interlocutors hear the voice clearly. There is a noise reduction system. The volume is good. You can also listen to music in the Xiaomi Mi Bluetooth headset, but due to the lack of a pair, there will be no stereo and you will hear everything that is happening around.

During our tests, we were unable to find a way to flash this headset in order to get rid of the Chinese language. The numbers of incoming calls, notifications, and charge level are announced in Chinese. You can't turn it off either. If you know a way, please tell me in the comments.

Results on Xiaomi Mi Bluetooth headset

Xiaomi Mi Bluetooth headset will be good choice with a limited purchasing budget. Simple design, a pair of replaceable ear pads, functionality, two colors to choose from, reasonable time battery life, noise suppression. Hints in Chinese may not suit you. As an alternative, we recommend paying attention to

Finally I was able to test the new full-size wireless xiaomi headphones with support for the “correct” codec aptX.

Alas, today such are still rare: the age of the codec has not made it quite popular among developers, since it requires licensing fees in favor of Qualcomm, who owns the development.

So have Xiaomi Mi Bluetooth Headphones (TDLYEJ01JY), also known as Mi Bluetooth Foldable Headset, has every chance of becoming an excellent choice. Moreover, they are created on the basis of some of the most comfortable headphones.

And the price tag is humane. Let's take a closer look?

Everything new is well forgotten old

Xiaomi's new wireless headphones are nothing more than a relaunch of wired headphones. We wrote about them last year - a rather interesting model with an emphasis on stylish appearance and ease of wearing.

The wireless version has become more modest: bright light green, orange and white cases have been replaced by strict black ones. A white version also exists, but it will be quite difficult to find.

In my opinion, this is even better. White color is too easily soiled, and bright shades are for teenagers. So, unlike Mi Relaxed, the new Mi Bluetooth Headphones can be recommended for all ages.

Although at first glance the new product is a complete copy of its predecessor, in reality the headphones have become a little more comfortable.

The most comfortable Xiaomi headphones

This is probably due to the slightly lighter design, thinner headband and updated ear cushion material. Although you can feel this only by comparing the 2 options on your own head.

This is a little strange, because unlike its ancestors, Mi Bluetooth Headphones received folding design and additional filling.

I still consider the previous version of the headphones to be the most comfortable on-ear headphones in the price range up to 10 thousand rubles. And this despite the fact that the outside of the ear pad is made of cheap leatherette, and the inside is simple foam rubber. The headband is exactly the same.

The wireless option is no worse. Very comfortable, very light - I was able to wear them all day without any discomfort. The only problem is that your head sweats in the heat, but this is the problem with all budget headphones of this type.

I think that everything is decided by the unique “suspension” mechanism placed on the cup: the speaker and ear pad are separated from the cup by a rubber gasket with 3 degrees of freedom. It allows the headphones to sit at the correct angle relative to the head, leaving minimal work for the foam.

In fact, ear pads only work for sound insulation. Everything else is done by this flexible membrane, to which a metal mesh with a speaker is attached.

My use of Mi Relaxed (more precisely, my wife) for a year says that the materials are of high quality, wear and tear during this time is minimal. So it turns out that it’s not premium materials that decide, but good ideas.

And for Xiaomi they really work. It's great when $50 headphones are more comfortable than $100 ones.

When you don't need to look for a button

Control is the same as in Mi Relaxed, based on disguised as a cup fairing headphone button, which is used instead of the control button on the remote control in multimedia applications (start/pause) and for calls (accept/reject).

In addition, Mi Bluetooth Headphones have 2 buttons volume control, one of which is marked with a tangible dot. You won't miss.

The ergonomics are excellent. The hand, even in complete darkness, unerringly hits this button. A little to the side - the second one.

There’s no need to even talk about the button on the cup – it seems like this is the coolest idea for the main control button on headphones that I’ve ever seen.

Xiaomi Mi Bluetooth Headphones comfortable in everything. These are not oak ones for you Beats!

A little about communication: aptX and everything, everything, everything

These are Xiaomi's only wireless full-size headphones, so it's not surprising to find it quite fresh (for peripherals, of course) Bluetooth 4.1 and a complete collection of profiles: HFP/HSP/A2DP/AVRCP.

About availability aptX The license logo proudly reads. But this information was not included in the specifications on the box. Strange, isn't it?

The main feature of Xiaomi is connect to 3 sources simultaneously. It doesn't work perfectly, although the connection is stable. The headphones play audio from the device on which the multimedia application was last launched.

At the same time, on devices running Windows/macOS/Linux, the volume rocker changes the system volume, but on smartphones it lives its own life.

The connection with the headphones is incredibly strong: music works even at a distance 10 meters from the source, and only a couple of reinforced concrete walls can become a real obstacle.

Sound test: wire vs Bluetooth

I don't like testing wireless headphones. What to expect from them? Even unique models with incredible price tags rarely sound at least at the level of their counterparts at half the price. I don't even swear by wired copies - if they are normal headphones, they will sound better.

ATTENTION. Don’t forget that in on-ear headphones, due to nonlinear reflections of sound, you can hear even more sound than in bookshelf speakers. Therefore, a good source and properly encoded music is a must.

However, there is something to be said about Xiaomi Mi Bluetooth Headphones. I didn’t like the sound of Mi Relaxed: flat, inexpressive, very simple. Next to Xiaomi “hybrids” and older overhead phones, they cannot stand any comparison.

However, Mi Relaxed plays better than Beats. Smoother, closer to the real recording. And Mi Bluetooth, even without aptX activation and with a streaming service as sources, is fatter, louder, and brighter than the younger modification.

I tested them in tandem with ZTE Axon 7 and a patch for aptX HD on different recordings - from mp3 at 320 kbps (own rips) and Google Music to Flac and WAV without compression, after direct rip from disk.

The verdict is logical and simple: aptX radically changes sound quality. Without it, Xiaomi Mi Bluetooth Headphones sound smooth, without coloration of any ranges, barely highlighting the lower frequencies for a more pleasant listening experience.

When using aptX, headphones perceive a higher bitrate, so the same songs sound fatter and brighter. In addition, it turns out that Mi Bluetooth Headphones cope excellently with the role of monitor headphones.

The lows become bright and voluminous – but with a predominance of dry clarity of sound. The average ones are played out in full with an emphasis on detail. The high frequencies fit perfectly into the overall mix, beautifully decorating the sound.

Mi Bluetooth Headphones sound like good wired headphones corresponding to price category. That's why I'm writing this article in them.

Xiaomi or something else?

If you take Xiaomi Mi Comfort headphones, cut off their wire and insert a Bluetooth module, you will get a new product called Xiaomi Mi Bluetooth Foldable. That's exactly what Xiaomi engineers did. Well, there actually was more to do. Seal the hole from the cord, cut out new holes for the buttons. Cut out the battery. But these are all minor things. The main thing is that Xiaomi fans are happy.
I consider myself a semi-Xiaomist. I like the products of this brand, but my inner little Jew sometimes does not allow me to buy everything with the MI nameplate. Although sometimes he falls asleep and I place orders. First it was the Xiaomi Wired / Wireless Gaming Mouse, and now here are the Xiaomi Mi Bluetooth Foldable headphones, which I will talk about later.
I'll start with technical characteristics:

  • Model: TDLYEJ01JY
  • Impedance: 32 Ohm
  • Charging port: Micro-USB
  • Charging time: 2.5 hours
  • Bluetooth 4.1
  • Bluetooth profiles: HFP/HSP/A2DP/AVRCP
  • 40mm drivers
  • Frequency response: 20Hz-40kHz
  • Signal range: 10 m
  • Standby time: 200 hours
  • Playing time: 10 hours
  • Dimensions: 199 * 82 * 255 mm
  • Weight: 235 g

Now about the headphones themselves:
The headphones arrive to the buyer in a large box.

There is nothing inside besides headphones. Even an unfortunate USB lanyard or case.

Therefore, I immediately show the headphones:

The overall workmanship is very pleasing. Everything looks good and solid.
Housing material: plastic. Matte plastic, which in photographs looks like it is covered with a thick layer of dust. But it doesn't look like that in real life. True, this plastic collects fingerprints very well. And on dark plastic you can see them very well.
The ergonomics of the headphones are comfortable. On the left earphone at the bottom there are two keys responsible for volume and switching tracks. On the right earphone there is also a microphone and a MicroUSB port at the bottom:

But the power button (also known as the call acceptance button, also known as pause/play in the player) is located under the side cover. To let the buyer know about this, there is a sticker with the information:

Well, at least I think that the information on the sticker is about the button. I don't understand hieroglyphs. Although if there is any text in English:

There are retractable slides for adjustment to different head sizes. Luckily they are metal:

The headband is also made of matte plastic. On the inside there is a cushion insert made of a soft, silicone-like material. There is an “MI” logo on the top of the headband, and this is exactly what the manufacturer adds +20-30% to the cost of the product. Analog of core in apple products:

The ear pads are soft and comfortable. Made from wild dermantine leather. The right and left earbuds are marked with the letters L and R:

If necessary, the headphones can be folded.

But where to put them is unclear. The manufacturer did not provide any cover. This, in my opinion, is very strange, considering the price of these headphones.
As I wrote above, the build quality, materials and general appearance I have no complaints. Everything was done very well and soundly.
You can find out what is inside the headphones from this picture:

Bluetooth V4.1 CSR 8645 chip and 40mm 32ohm dynamic drivers.
I don’t plan to personally check the filling yet.
My main audio source for headphones is my home laptop and my Xiaomi phone MI A1:

Connecting to headphones does not cause any problems. After connecting, you can see that the sound is using a higher quality AAC codec:

There you can also see a display of the headphone battery level. Convenient for monitoring the charge of headphones.
Speaking of charge. On average, headphones last up to 12 hours at 70-80% of maximum volume. At maximum volume up to 9 hours, and if you listen at half volume, they will last even longer. I left the headphones for 15 hours of playing music at half volume, and when I came back, the headphones still had 16% charge left. That is, I think that they will calmly hold out for 18-20 hours. I think this is more than enough. Charging time averages 2.5-3 hours. Depends on the charger. I mainly use a 5-port charger from Xiaomi for charging. Therefore, the headphones charge relatively quickly.
Well, a little about the sound of the headphones. I don’t know how to talk about all sorts of sibilants and dark shades with a taste of vanilla violins. I'll say it simply. I like the headphones. They have an even sound without distortion in any direction. Very good detail. There is bass, and there is enough of it. Of course they are not the fattest, but it’s nice to listen to. High frequencies also do not stick out, the music does not try to eat away your brains and dry out your ears. Everything is balanced. Lately I’ve been listening mainly to modern Russian pop music, a little repertoire of compositions from the Nashe Radio radio station, and a little more techno vocals. All of the above sounds very good in these headphones. The main sound source, as I said, is my Xiaomi Mi A1 phone with the native Google Music player:

I am completely satisfied with the sound and functionality.
Conclusions:
I can recommend headphones for purchase. Despite the fact that at this price they have many competitors, it is still Xiaomi. A fan item that's pretty well made. Many people will like the sound, it is quite high quality. Materials and workmanship are top notch. The only thing I would classify as a minus is the meager equipment and the MicroUSB port. In 2018, this is no longer the case. Otherwise, just great headphones. In addition, now you can use a coupon GBCEXMD reduce the price to $54.99. A small thing, but nice.

Xiaomi Mi sports headphones are lightweight and comfortable, designed for lovers of active recreation and sports. Beautiful design and excellent sound characteristics make the wireless headset in demand among domestic consumers.

Improved appearance

The anatomical design of Bluetooth headphones provides an optimal angle of inclination corresponding to the human ear. Provides a tight and secure fit and full, lossless surround sound. Metal that has undergone multi-level processing is quite durable and resistant to mechanical damage, endowed with a uniform texture, attractive.

The ear suspension is soft and springy. It does not slip or fall out, independently adapts to the natural structure of the shell, bends and turns, allowing a person to feel comfortable and confident during exercise. Does not cause unpleasant painful sensations or fatigue after long-term wear. Adjustable.

The great news for consumers is that the headphones are waterproof. This factor is important when playing sports, as the headset is susceptible to sweat.
The Chinese creators achieved the effect using nanospraying techniques and making micro-holes using special laser equipment. As a result, the headset looks weightless and is endowed with the qualities of trouble-free operation in conditions of high humidity.

Wireless Bluetooth headphones are wear-resistant and easy to clean. The coating increases the protective properties of the device, resistance to the formation of a layer of fat secreted by human sweat glands and other contaminants.
The headset is easy to keep clean by periodically wiping with a damp cloth. The body and wires are covered with an additional layer that protects against UV rays. All materials are safe for health and pleasant to tactile contact.

High-quality detailed sound reproduction

The wireless headphones are equipped with powerful and sensitive speakers that produce clear, detailed sound. The user clearly hears pronounced low, mid, high frequencies, clean vocals, and percussive rhythm.

Sound channels independent of each other give the effect of comprehensive acoustics in motion. The structure contains a metal membrane that stabilizes vibrations, thereby reducing the level of noise and sound distortion. The result is perfect sound reproduction with distinct sonic detail in every track.

Additional features

The Mi Sports headset has a built-in microphone (silicon) with MEMS technology, found in smartphones and other modern devices. The noise-canceling effect clears background noise during dialogue or listening to music in noisy environments.

The design of Bluetooth headphones also includes a button for adjusting the volume and switching between playing melodies and telephone conversations.
HD playback improves the quality of headset conversations and ensures voice clarity. Bluetooth 4.1 allows you to simultaneously connect several gadgets or mobile devices within a radius of 10 meters.

Continuity of Operation

A full battery charge is enough for 7 hours of continuous listening to music. Does not require frequent recharging. For short-term use (about 1 hour), a quick ten-minute recharge is used. When switched off, they keep the charge for more than 10 days.

The branded online store of Xiaomi products in Russia presents the popular headphones of the Xiaomi Mi Sports Bluetooth Headset model. Offers to buy good and high-quality products from the manufacturer at prices affordable to everyone!
