It often happens that a shield-bearer (with an activated shield) shields a friend from shots (especially when reloading) from enemy fire, approaching the enemy almost or completely point-blank and does not allow them to shoot at their own. By the way, there is one way against those who close behind the shield - with the help of the "Jump with a crouch" trick, you can climb on it and stab it in the head.
