How to choose high-quality roller blinds with automatic control? All about remote control of curtains from the remote control Smart home automatic curtains.

Comfortable control of curtains placed in an apartment or cottage involves the use of an over-the-air signal or special rays of the infrared spectrum. To do this, the cornice is equipped with a drive that receives the command sent by the corresponding devices. Their work can be regulated in the following ways:

remote control

control button

The efficiency and coherence of such a device depends, first of all, on the power of the main element of the system - the electric drive. It is also what ensures the noise level of the curtain opening process.

System composition:

The system consists of the following components:

  • base unit or controller;
  • various relays and drives that execute commands;
  • timers and sensors;
  • remote controls, tablet, smartphone or personal computer;

The choice of control method is carried out depending on what type of system is taken as a basis.

Curtain control methods:

Remotely

In order to control the curtains from a distance, no special effort is required. Thus, the assembly of a device that allows the use of a remote system is carried out if the following products are available:

  • drive;
  • sensor with an infrared signal perception system;
  • the corresponding remote control;
  • controller;
  • special control unit;
  • sensor;
  • tablet or smartphone;
  • drive.

Using a button

You can also use a regular switch. This button can be placed anywhere convenient for you. So, in the bedroom this can be done next to the bedside table. The installation requires the following items:

  • drive;
  • buttons (switch);
  • signal reception sensor.

Moreover, if a switch is installed, then it should consist of 2 keys, one of which will ensure the movement of the curtain up, and the second - down. There should also be two buttons, each of which will have its own contact group. In this case, the switches are connected to a sensor that sends commands to the drive.

The curtain control scheme presented above is quite simple and makes it possible, at the lowest cost, to produce a useful device for automatically opening or closing curtains on a window. Using switch S3 you can switch to manual control, allowing the curtains to remain partially open or closed. The curtain control circuit consists of a motor and a worm gear.

Automatic operation

Switch S3 determines manual or automatic control. Q1 and Q2 and control relay A/2. S1 is used to open the curtains and S2 is used to close the curtains.
C3 and R4 provide low current flow through the relay. Relay A/2 12 volt with 500 ohm coil. When Q2 is off, C3 will discharge, but when Q2 becomes open (either when turned on or when S1 is pressed) capacitor C3 is charged very quickly, through the relay coil. The initial charging current is sufficient to activate the relay.
Bias Q1 is supplied through resistor R3, which is connected to the collector of Q2. When Q2 is turned on, the collector voltage will be low, around 0, and hence Q1 and LED L1 will not work. When Q1 is off, its collector voltage will be high, and Q2's bias voltage is supplied through L1, R1, and R2. And at the same time the curtains will open.
If S2 is now pressed, Q2's base voltage will become 0 and Q2 will close. At the moment of closing, its voltage on the collector will rise to the supply voltage and Q1 will be open. LED L1 will be on, relay A/2 will be de-energized, Q2 will be closed.

The engine running time is controlled by P1 and C6 and is adjustable from 1 to 12 seconds. This delay is adjusted so that the motor has time to fully open or close the curtains. The output of the 555 timer goes through resistor R8 to Q3, which is applied to power the motor through relay pins A1 and A2.
When the motor operates in one direction or another (opening, closing curtains), LED L2 will always light up. A running engine generates EMF, diodes D4 and D5 do not allow EMF to harm the circuit elements.

Transistor BD139 is the workhorse of this circuit, providing the required current to the motor. If the case of the transistor is TO126, which is shown in the figure above, then note that the pins are located in the order E, C, B, generally as in the figure.

Manual control

If switch S3 is set to manual mode, operation is slightly different. The relays control S1, S2, Q1, Q2, the other part of the circuit works the same as in automatic mode.

S1 and S2 determine the direction of rotation of the motor. Additionally, if S1 or S2 is held down, bias current will flow through D1 and D2 and R6 to the base of PNP transistor Q4. This small base current causes an increase in collector current through R9 to the base of Q3. BD139 will now be fully turned on and will drive the motor as long as S1 or S2 is pressed. From all this it follows that you can partially open or partially close the curtains. If you prefer manual control, a simplified diagram is shown below.

When you press the power button, power is supplied to the motor, using relay contacts, it will open the curtains. When you press the shutdown button, the motor will rotate the mechanism in the opposite direction, thereby closing the curtains.

This project does not have the most advanced mechanical system, so I am waiting for new ideas to improve it. In the beginning I used a worm gear and plastic gears. Plastic gears cannot withstand heavy loads and their teeth break. After the first failure of the plastic gears, it was necessary to replace them with more durable ones; it is obvious that the most optimal solution is to use metal gears. Without wasting any time, the broken gears were replaced with brass ones.

A mechanism that is attached to the sides of a cornice or curtain.

The engine is screwed onto a wooden platform next to the curtain. The curtains are attached to hinges. In general, from the photographs you can see everything and where.

Friction - friend or foe?
There is one important process in this design: friction. If there is too much of it, the engine will not be able to cope with the load, and it may eventually burn out from prolonged use in such a situation. If there is not enough friction in the circuit, the wheels will slip where the rope goes. To avoid this, I use a silicone-based furniture polish, this significantly reduces friction and allows the curtains to move easily.

The motor must be selected depending on the length and weight of the curtains. For long and heavy curtains, a more powerful motor is therefore needed. As a motor, you can use any motor that can easily move your curtains. My engine has a small torque, but if the rotation speed is reduced by the gear, the torque (torque force) will increase. The worm gear has 1 tooth, I used a 57 tooth gear, then the speed reduction would be 57:1. Engine torque will increase 57 times. Do not use too much oil to lubricate the system, as it may splatter.

Settings

This is best done with open curtains. When moving curtains by hand, you need to pay attention to ensure that they move easily.
Next, switch to manual mode. Now, when you press the close button, the curtains should begin to close, you need to hold the button, if you release it, they will stop. Then, pressing open, the curtains should move in the opposite direction.

Now open the curtains, set and save P1 to minimum resistance and set S3 to automatic mode. Click close and the curtains will begin to close. Return to manual mode and open the curtains, increasing P1 and switch back to automatic mode and press close again. Repeat this until the curtains are completely closed.
If you are having problems with this circuit, the first step is to determine whether it is mechanical or electrical. If it doesn’t work, then first check the power supply, the serviceability of the parts, and the correct installation. You should also check the mechanism itself to see if it is jammed or if it rotates too tightly.

Electrically operated and remote controlled curtains have long ceased to be a luxury. They are found not only in public institutions - cafes, offices, cinemas, where simultaneous control of a large number of windows is necessary, but also in houses and apartments.

This article discusses curtain automation in detail. You will find out what types, how it happens remote control curtain and what advantages and disadvantages such mechanisms have.

General information about remote controlled curtains

Curtains with a control panel are products in which the position of the panels is adjusted automatically due to an electric drive built into the curtain rod and a remote control with which the user transmits commands to the motor.

The mechanized curtain control system is a functional element that significantly increases the comfort of using a window curtain. Such designs are not necessary when decorating windows in small rooms with standard openings, however, there are cases when electric curtain rods are necessary. Let us highlight the main ones:

  • When decorating bay windows and panoramic windows, it is problematic to manually control the curtain due to its size;
  • For high window openings;
  • When access to windows is difficult due to furniture or room layout features.

Electrically operated curtain rods are appropriate in rooms with several windows - they are connected to a common control panel and all curtains open by pressing one button. Controlling curtains from a remote control is the hallmark of a “smart” home, so if you plan to add modern technologies, it makes sense to start with installing electric curtain rods.

All electric curtains on the remote control, depending on the design features of the cornice, are divided into two groups - sliding (horizontal) and lifting (vertical).

The group of lifting structures includes the following types of curtains:

  • Pleated blinds;
  • Roman curtains;
  • Rolled products.

Standard functionality remote controls have 4 buttons:

  1. Unfolding (opening) of the canvas;
  2. Collapse (closing);
  3. Stop curtain movement;
  4. A programmable button that allows you to remember the position of the curtain and move it to a specified position with one click.

Many people have the prejudice that such mechanisms break down quickly and have a short service life. In fact, the situation is the opposite - the products are designed taking into account the maximum possible number of operation cycles; with proper operation, they work for 5 years or more.

The advantages of electric curtains include:

Let us also note the increased service life of curtains equipped with electric curtain rods - you do not have to touch the fabric with your hands, it will not get dirty and will retain its visual appeal longer.

When purchasing a high-quality product from a trusted manufacturer, you will not encounter any shortcomings, however, cheap Chinese curtain automation often “pleases” its owners with a reluctance to work normally and unexpected breakdowns.

So, when choosing automation, do not save money - give preference to a reliable and high-quality electric curtain rod and the result will fully satisfy you.

Smart Home - an innovative approach to automating the control of curtains, blinds and gate mechanisms

The Smart House system provides functions for monitoring and automatically controlling the activities of all types of premises mechanisms - sliding gates, blinds, curtains and other devices. The undeniable advantage of this system is remote control, which is extremely important in such cases when the windows of the house are located at too high a distance or the possibility of free access to the windows is blocked by pieces of furniture. The system must be controlled with a special control panel, thanks to which each owner can easily open or close doors, sliding gates, window curtains and blinds.

Advantagesuse of the system

Remote control of gates, blinds and curtains in a room is not only practical, it significantly increases the level of comfort. There are situations when you simply want to protect yourself from the outside world and enjoy the warm atmosphere of your home. At these moments, when you press only one button on the remote control controlautomatically will close all the curtains and blinds, be able to dim the lighting and turn on your favorite movie or music... In addition, if the house is of impressive size and has many rooms, how much time will it take to close or open quite heavy curtains or blinds? Situations may also arise when homeowners simply forget to close the roller shutters. In this case, it becomes simply an indispensable assistant.

You will no longer need to tear yourself away from urgent matters, spend a lot of time and effort to control the mechanisms. In each room of the house, the system will always maintain a given level of illumination, regardless of the time of day or night. If the sunlight is too bright, the curtains will close automatically. When you need to leave your home for a certain period of time and go, say, on vacation, a home can create imitationpresence their owners, providing complete protection from intruders - the system will control in full accordance with the given scenario - they will automatically open and close at the required time.

So why should you give preference to automating the control of gates, curtains and blinds through a Smart Home? The answer is quite simple. The advantages of the system are as follows:

The ability to organize the opening and closing of each mechanism using a remote control, switch, touch screen or TV screen;

The ability to open/close blinds at a certain height, at the discretion of the owner;

- controlblinds, curtains can be carried out in accordance with a given scenario (group);

Blinds will protect the house from overheating, which reduces the cost of electricity required for air conditioning;

With the first rays of sun, the curtains of the bedroom will automatically close, so the bright light will not interfere with enjoying your sleep;

The ability to set house mechanisms in modes controlled together with audio systems, etc.

If we talk about the principle of operation of the system, it is based on many sensors (electric drives) that are mounted inside the cornice. The transmission of executive commands is carried out through the control panel, to the module of which the system submits orders in accordance with the specified conditions.

Processcontrol of blinds and curtains

If you lay down to rest during the day and the sun is shining directly in your face, then it’s time to use curtains and blinds. But usually in this state you don’t want to get out of a cozy bed. Or you come after work and are feeling tired, then automatic roller shutters can envelop your evening in care and comfort.

Thanks to the Smart Home system, such a banal and annoying everyday procedure will turn into a pleasant process that does not take much effort. Moreover, in the most common use of the system, you can always open or close curtains and blinds using the IR remote control. If you program this process - controlautomatically will do everything for his master.

Controlsliding gates, roller gates

The remote gate control process provides for complete automation of rolling and sliding gates. Due to its versatility, such a system can be used on summer cottages, in households, cottages and, of course, on the territory of various industrial complexes.

The complete set of this system is as follows: a control unit, a remote control, sensors with photocells that will become assistants in the process of controlling the system. By pressing the remote control button, a signal is sent to the control unit to execute a specific command, as a result of which the system is activated. In this case, sensors are necessary to prevent a possible collision of sliding or roller gate leaves with a vehicle. Typically, the sensors are mounted at a distance of 30 to 90 cm from the ground and will be triggered if any obstacle appears in the path of the lowering gate.

Controlcurtains using keys on the walls, iPad and other devices

To cover window openings in modern houses, blinds or curtains are installed. Thanks to the Smart Home home automation complex, you can completely get rid of the need to close and open them yourself. Thus, you just need to set the time for each operation through , and the system will take care of everything else.

In addition to touch-type panels for each of the rooms, it is possible to embed push-button modules to turn on or off a certain selection of functions. For example, if you install such modules in the bedroom, which can be conveniently mounted into the wall next to the bed, then they can be equipped with the following buttons:

Control of blinds, curtains, gates;

Home lighting control;

Activation/deactivation of necessary scenarios (for example, “watching a movie”).

But the main role in management belongs to PPCs (portable tablet computers, which include Samsung Galaxy, iPad, etc.), which can control each of the home ownership systems. Thanks to a program with a user-friendly interface, the process of managing a Smart Home becomes extremely simple and intuitive.
